Elavil keeping me from peeing

I started taking Elavil about a week ago and I've noticed the last few nights that when I do get up to pee that it doesn't want to come out. I am sitting there forever trying to get my muscles to let go. Has anyone else experienced this? I saw somewhere that it might be a negative side effect.
