I was just wondering if anyone has any luck with drinking soda. One girl said she drinks caffeine free Dr. Pepper with no problems. Just wondering!! Thanks.

I can drink caffeine free Pepsi and Coca Cola with no problems, as long as I don't go overboard (I was a Pepsi addict in the "before IC" life ).

I can't tolerate any "fizzy" drink. I'll admit I haven't tried them all, but so far I haven't tried one that doesn't result in a flare.

I tried Sprite this weekend and had no problem with it. Thank goodness. I tried caffiene free Dr. Pepper had an increase in frequency. I am going to try Caffeine free Pepsi..Atleast I can have Sprite. HUGS TO ALL!!
i cannot drink any carbonated drinks at all. hopefully someday i can because i love Coke!! I think the carbonation bothers me more than the caffeine.

One way to try to tolerate soda is to let it go flat before drinking, thus eliminating the fizz. I have much more success drinking it this way, although it's not at its flavorful best. Another option is to add a pinch of salt to it, which will deflate the carbonation. Both work for me. Hope this helps.

Good tip! I've heard baking soda also has this effect, although obviously too much of either will spoil the flavor of the beverage. An additional advantage of baking soda is that it lowers the overall acidity the beverage. I would try adding both baking soda and salt to the beverage in question, and seeing how that goes.
Personally, I don't have any diet senstivities, but I don't have an IC diagnosis, either.
