Hi, my names Lisa & I'm a 25 y.o, married, Sth Aussie Mum of 4 wonderful kiddo's.
I suffer from fibromyalgia, & also have a diagnosis of CFS. On top of that I have OH, IBS, & Reflux. Life is fun :bonk:
Up until about 2 months ago my health was so-so considering the problems I have.
My little sister & her baby moved in & WHOA did things change quick.
The very next week I developed the my first 'true' Urinary Tract Infection I've ever had (lots of pain there from the fms, but not actual infections.) It came on very suddenly & had me down in the local Accident & Emergency in terrible pain, I felt like I needed to 'push my bladder out'. They sent me home & said I was fine. I rang back only an hour or two later quite distressed, so they checked me out & for the first time ever I actually did have a UTI. The specimen sent away came back positive. Recovered fine from it, or so I thought.
In the weeks after this I developed a stomach ulcer that put me in hospital for a week, then 'bottom end bleeding', then 10 days ago I got this weird spasm sensation around my bladder, on & off, & a little uncomfortable.
By the next day it felt like a full blown UTI, but I had no temp & it didn't 'burn as the wee came out' But the painful spasms afterwards AGGHHH!!!! Had me up the wall. Started taking precautionary anti-b's the next day, but a week later I was still on anti-b's & still in terrible pain. To the point that I lost all appetite & became quite nauseous. The pain moves all over my lower abdomen & at one stage was concentrated on the lower right portion of my abdomen scaring me terribly & making me think that it might be appendicitis, but I had no real point tenderness, or rebound tenderness. Blood work all came back normal, so they ruled that out.
The dr is now saying that it is IBS, which is fine & alot of the symptoms make sense like the 'unable to go & always feeling like I need to go', bowel spasms, pain through my right hip, but doesn't explain the drive me up the wall bladder pain, the bladder urgency, (like I need to go NOW or have an accident, stop start flow etc...)
So some of my wonderful fibro friends on another site clued me in to IC & it truly does sound like what's happening.
Problem will be getting my dr to actually check it out. Most things that I have 'just get put down to fibro'
Anyways, that is my long winded introduction. Hope to get to know you all better.

Have you seen a urologist? If not, I suggest you make an appointment. Stress can be a problem for anyone with IC, or with any other disease for that matter --- is your doctor giving you anything to help control the stress?

Whoa... sounds like you're going through a lot. I agree with Donna, seeing a urologist would be the best way to have your bladder checked out. And, :welcome: to the ICN!! :)

Hi Lisa welcome to the boards. :) Yep, If you can, see a uro. Explain all you are going through (I write everything down when I see a doc, just to be sure I tell em everything!) and what you are thinking. Everyone here is supportive and has a lot of info to share. Take care and good to meet you!

Oh yes, let me add my welcome too!!! I agree with Windwalker, definitely keep a "diary" of all your symptoms, what you ate and when etc and how your bladder feels, etc. I have just stopped my pain and voiding diary (needed a bit of a mental break from it, been doing it since I was diagnosed with IC back in Nov of '04.) It can prove very helpful to you and your doc! For me it was the one way I could see my progress, or lack thereof, and it helped me accurately describe my symptoms to my doc specifically, instead of "well, I pee alot" hee hee!! And it helped me find my trigger foods that irritate my IC bladder.

I myself go for a colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy on July 7th due to my own tummy troubles, so I can completely sympathize with you in that area! My troubles sound exactly like yours, and it landed me in the emergency room about 2 weeks ago. I am "hoping", I know that sounds crazy, for an IBS diagnosis, lol. But my symptoms sound exactly like what you have been dealing with, the lower-right soreness (yes, I though appendix too, but damn, already had mine removed back in 1993, lol) and then a general all over abdominal ache/tenderness, no one specific spot. The ER trip was brought on by my feeling like my midsection and intestines were in a huge charley horse/spasm thing going on. Just have to ask, do you get lower right backaches, by your hip?? I get them, and then things start to act up on me. Just curious. Never thought I would be happy about getting a "scoping" of the rear-end, but I will be sooo happy to finally start getting some answers!

Again, just wanted to add my welcome to the mix, and tell you glad you found us! It's a great place for support and info. Hope to see you around the boards!

Take care!
Hugs,
Tracey :)

Thankyou all for your kind replies & support :)
Tracey YES! I get terrible lower right back & hip ache to the point that it makes it quite hard for me to sleep on it!
I am supposed to be having a upper GI endoscopy this July as well. Though I think that I may put it off until I am a little stronger ;)

Wow, yes, I know what you mean! I started sleeping with a pillow between my knees, and sometimes that helps. Yep, if you were to draw a straight line from my hip-bone around to my lower back, that's exactly where it bugs me, yeesh. That can be more annoying than anything else!

When I went in for my intial consulation for the "scopings", I had been having horrible bouts with diarrhea and it was all I had to make it to that darned appt. I asked to be scoped as soon as humanly possible (I am a worrier and figured the less time I had think about having it done -- the better, lol) and they scheduled me for that Thursday! Yikes, that was quick, as it was Tuesday when I was there. But then an insurance mix-up forced me to reschedule for July 7th. Which, now thinking back on it, is probably for the best -- I was sooo sick and worn out at that time, the prep probably would have sent me over the edge, lol. At least I can attack now from a little bit healthier position, and hopefully "tolerate" the prep a bit easier. So, I can understand wanting to wait until you feel better for that sort of thing, lol!!! I am just now putting on some of the weight I lost on my own personal "quick weight-loss program" of being terrified to eat, lol.

Hope you are feeling fine, and are taking care of yourself! Thanks for the info, nice to know I am not alone in that stupid ache!!! ;)

Hugs,
Tracey :)
