Hi....I've received so much help from wonderful people in this forum....
I'm hoping someone has some information on taking Ibupropen for the pain from IC.... I'm going into my 9th straight day of intemittent/severe pain... I see my Dr tomorrow, but he recommended that I "hook up" with this forum to talk to those who have been diagnosed and can share their experiences...
so, if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it....thanks....

Most Icers Ibuprofen causes your bladder to be inflammed more. Most commonly Ibuprofen does not help with Ic pain at all it makes it worse. Have you tried uristat or Azo standard it seems to help bladder pain it is over the counter take care. I am praying your dr. is able to help you tommorrow.

I've been taking 500 milligrams of ibuprofen for about 3 years now. It helps a lot with taking the back pain away when that is bad and some on the bladder. I do find that I have to sit and take it easy for it to help. Mostly I take it 1 hour before going to bed. That way it is working already and I can rest more. You do need a prescription for that high of dose. I can't take pain pills because they make me sick.

The back pain is due from the bladder pain.

Be careful with ibuprofen if you take Elmiron. I was noticing in the small print that you're not supposed to take a lot of things with Elmiron including aspirin and ibuprofen. I guess acetaminaphen is a better choice if you take this drug. I've been taking Elmiron for years and never knew this and I haven't keeled over yet. This is just for your info.

At one time I was taking ibuprofen for a shoulder problem and it also helped my bladder. However, over time I developed a sensitivity to ibuprofen and it caused me the worst stomach pain I have ever experienced. I can take Aleve for about one day now, but if I try for longer, the stomach pain returns.

I made a mistake. It's 600 mg every 8 hours. yes, if I take it too often it will cause stomach pains too. Just don't take it right when you go to bed. I only take it once a day.

I went to the urgent care a few days ago, I had a uti. the doctors was very cool. he said not let society tell you that you have the take Ibupropen for pain. He said it was really bad for you..and this is just a ER doctor...my urologist always tells me to take Ibupropen, but it does make me hurt more. I took it for a while, and heard that i can harm you more then help you..so I stopped and I did make a difference. I hope thing went well today.

I can only take the ibupropen for the pain. It can cause more harm but at the moment that is what I need. Pain pills are bad on your heart. That is one problem I had with taking them. Made my heart beat to fast and hard. You have to weigh the good with the bad and go from there.

Ibuprofen causes more irritation to my bladder........especially when I am already in a flare. There are times when my bladder is feeling better....that I can tolerate a small amount. large amounts will destoy my tummy too. Now I just stay away from it.
