I've posted here before but I have some good news to report that may help others suffering and worrying as I was last year. Last year I took my son and his friend to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. The trip was a disaster. My van broke down, it was unusally cold and snowing, and I had my first sevier bout with IC. I was up and down all night in the snow with sevier pain and frequency. I somehow made it throught the week but was hurting badly. I went to urologist after urologist last summer trying to find relief. I found this web site and others and told my last uro that my symptoms were similar to IC. He did a hydro and confirmed. I've been progressively getting better taking Elavil and Tagamet. Not to be defeated, I took my son, the same friend and his Dad back to Colorado. We had a great time. I even did a 10 mile hike to Sky Pond in RMNP.

I know how discouraged and frustrating having this illness can be. But, I hope my experience can give some of you hope that you can get back to some normalcy and have some fun.

Thank you for posting! I think hiking is one of the things I've missed most since I got IC. I'm doing better myself & starting to get back outdoors for mini-hikes. Your story really encourages me:)

When I was a teen-ager and lived in Nebraska, my favorite vacation was camping in the Rockies --- it's a wonderful place.
