Cream For Vular

Hello Ladies

Two weeks ago I was started on Amitriptyline cream for vulvar pain. For me it works great. Hope some of you can give it a try.

Amitryptiline is the generic for Elavil, the antidepressant and what IC users also use in low dose at bedtime. I did not know it comes in a cream and would be curious to know more about it for the vulvar. Does it also get into your system through the skin and cause any side efects? Carol

I had never heard of the cream either till the doctor gave it to me. It works by soothing the nerve endings once it is absorbed into the skin. My girlfriend asked her pain doctor for some and he had never heard of it either. But he gave her an RX for it because we had tried it on her post hepatic neuralgia and it worked. You do have to get a blood test done in about a week if you use it everyday. Because it is not known how much gets into the blood stream. So you do have to watch how much is absorbed. You also put it on very lightly. On my bottle it says 2% amitriptyline in diffumax a. I just know it gives me one less pain area to worry about.
