I am new. I have had IC for many yrs and have been on and off meds. I have also had endometriosis with implants on and around the bladder and had a total hysterectomy in 1998. I have also had problems with incontinence. At my doc apt last week the urogynecologist that I see referred me to a urologist, saying I had "transitional cells "in my urine that could indicate bladder cancer. Oh and that she found it 8 months ago and they should have called me but somebody in her office dropped the ball. Now I am scared and mad. Has anyone ever been told they had these "transitional cells" in the urine? From what I can read they do indicate cancer. I go tomorrow, but I am pretty freaked out about it.Thanks

I hope everything turns out ok--I don't know much about the transitional cells you mentioned but am intrigued and will research it. Where are you in Atlanta? My brother lives in Conyers and I will be visiting him soon. Take care of you and know we are here to support you.

There are different types of transitional cells. Go to www.google.com and type in transitional cells and you can see

Hi:
I had transitional cells in my urine once. It doesn't always mean cancer. The transitional cells mean cancer. The cells are sloughing off in your bladder. Other types of cells would show up if it is cancer....

Barb,
I am in Smyrna, which is on the west side of Atlanta. Conyers is srtaight across and thru Atlanta from me. I hope I will know something tomorrow when I see the doctor, but she will probably set up a cysto--hopefully, no, definitely, not in the office because I will leave.

I do hope you are right and that transitional cell does not mean cancer every time. I thought maybe some of you had had them in your urine if it is something that occurs from time to time. Will see what the doc says tomorrow. Thank you all for your support.

:welcome: Hi Kathy welcome to the forum. I have not heard of transitional cells. But there were squamous cells in mine before, I thought indicated cancer too, but no one seems to concerned about it, oh thats normal they say, I am okay. I hope it does not mean cancer for you either. Its pretty scary when we cant count on our doctors and their staff to keep us informed of whats going on :hmm: . i am sorry that this has happened to you, I would be mad too :cussing: I live in Walton County by the way near the Athens side of walton close to winder. I see a uroloigst in Monroe Dr. Scott Michael, I think he has an office in Conyers as well. i hope you get soem answers and I hope it turns out be nothing to worry about, :grouphug: You will definatley find a lot of :help: here on ICN, I have been here a short while and I finding lots of answers and support, hope you do too. Good luck at you appt...
