View Full Version : Vacation was really hard!

I just got back from a trip to the ocean. I rested a lot, but some days I could not get to the beach because I was in the bathroom. The water was so nice and calm. Sometimes, I went in the ocean just to pee because it was so far to get back to our rented condo. It's kind of embarrassing.
I was also in the middle of the lidocaine instillations. That was a picnic in unfamiliar territory.
The rest was fantastic though. I had time to read and do some crocheting. Very easy on the body and nerves. I feel much better than before I left.
Don't even worry about peeing in the ocean.. Who doesn't? I don't see any restroom signs for whales & dolphins...
How are the lidocaine instills working for you?
I'm glad you were able to have a little enjoyment on the trip... Hopefully next time you'll be feeling better. And how great that you did have a few days away from school... Being a principal, do you get any time off during the summer?
Today was my first day of summer vacation - the best day of the year!
Wishing you lovely, relaxing, summery days.

Good for you..........you reminded me about last summer when we were camping. I went on long long walks with my kids (18, 20, and 22) along the beach at the lake. When I got back my husband was cross......asked why can't I talk walks like that at home? (He takes things WAY too personally sometimes, but that is another story.) But, blushing........as you gals have already said.........it is much easier to walk on the beach when you have water nearby.........

Thanks for the support! The rest was the best part. I've been feeling really good today. The Lidocaine seems to have helped. I won't have access to it for another 10 days or so as I am away again. Then I have an appointment with the dr. I'm hoping he can do a hydro dis. I think a lot of my problem comes from the 100cc limit on the bladder capacity. I don't have any pain to talk about now. I can't get over how easy it is to walk these days. For awhile in school, I could hardly walk down the hall. I plan on walking every day, now. I've got to loose some weight. I think I can do it, now.
Peace, folks

Taking Vacations usually make me flare. They are supposed to be this restful experience...... Instead for weeks prior, I'm preparing, packing, planning, strategizing how much I can participate in, etc. Then during vacation, I'm constantly questioning how far I should push myself to participate in activities. Then afterwards, I flare from over-doing it, strange foods, not using the bathroom enough, not drinking enough water, vibrations from planes and/or cars, etc.
No wonder I reject most vacation ideas from DH.

This is one area I'm very fortunate in. Hubby and I are the same people when it comes to vacations. We pack one suitcase together and one for our son. I don't worry about forgetting anything cause the condo we rent has a washer/dryer....and hubby just wants to relax, relaxxxxxx......I'm always up for that.....so at night.....if we wanna.....we go out to dinner, movies, etc...
I'm glad you survived your family vacation. One thing we used to do was ride down with my BIL and SIL....but after one time, I felt like it got on their nerves stopping so often for me to pee.....they said they didn't have a problem....but....now I don't have to be concerned about that since we go in seperate cars.

Yep, I wouldn't worry about peeing in the ocean... I've done it many a time at the beach. I also went tubing down a river last summer with family and peed in the river. As Kadi says, you don't see restroom signs for fish, whales, and dolphins :lmao: Even my husband has peed in bodies of water and he doesn't have IC! It's just difficult when you're out in nature and there is no bathroom in sight.
I'm glad you were able to get away from it all though and get some rest! That can definitely help a lot.

HA! Peeing in the ocean! We do it too! Only here it's the lake or the river. Unfortunately, wth the river water only 53 degrees year round, you can tell when someone pees in the water. But, we figure, why not??? The fish do worse than that in the same water!!
