foley catheter and uti

Last time I had to wear a foley catheter it gave me a urinary tract infection. Friday I have to have a pottassium sesntivity procedure done before my insurance company will cover elmiron for my ic pain. if anyoneone has read my other posts know I am so mad and stressed out about this. They are going to use a foley catheter to do the procedure should I be concerned about getting a urinary tract infection again. Should I ask my gyn to prescribe my antibotics? I would appreciate any help.

i would definetely ask for antibioics.. i self cath all of the time and i am on macrobid. an infection would be the last thing that you need right now!....

Yes, they gave me antibiotics to take after the PST. I would most definately insist on it! They didn't give me ENOUGH antibiotics, only 4 days and I ended up w/ an infection afterwards. I would ask for a full cycle of them if I were you, you've been having such a hard time w/ infections lately.
