:shake: HI,
i just found out that i have IC i found out 2 weeks ago and its hard only being 17 and having this im not sure how to cope with any of it because not only before this i had carple tunnel in my right hand and had to go to many of doctors and get it fixed this was only a few months back so that was recent and i've had my blood test for bladder infections so many times that i cant begin to count and many of doctors. i just dont seem to know how to cope with IC after seeing that my whole life style that has to change and my family, friends everything is just confusing and it seems that everytime i try to stand on my feet something has to push me back down. so if any one knows how they can help me cope with all of this please do so it would be alot better if i had someone who has the same thing i do can be able to talk to me and help me understand and cope with my new surroundings i would love it.

:welcome: Ambie, I am sorry you are having to deal with this dreaded disorder. I think many of here have probaly had it from as young as you if not younger in some, but we just didnt have a name to put to it, and still unless you have it, no one really seems to know alot about it. I am new to the board to, and am learning alot and meeting alot of kind and friendly people that are knowledgeable and will give you lots of information and encouragement, I hope your carpul tunnel gets to feeling better and that you also get some relief from the IC as well :grouphug: .....

Hey, you found us so that is a start :)
I know how frustrating it can be to be diagnosed with IC so young. I was 14 when I got my "official" diagnosis. I'm almost 24 now and as difficult as it has been I"ve still managed to have a social life and work. It might take some time but most of the people around you will learn to deal. For example, my friends accept that if I go out with them that I will likely not drink and my co-workers and boss know that I head for the bathroom every 45 minutes or so like clockwork and if I'm having a bad day it's even more.
My advise is to be really honest with other people and yourself about your IC, read what's on the message boards, see what other people who have been coping with IC have to say, try everything and figure out what works best for you.
Melissa
p.s. if you ever get really frustrated and need to vent you can pm me

:hi: and :welcome: to the ICN family i'm so sorry you have IC but you found a great place to ask question and get our personal answers. were not doctor but we can tell you how we cope with this. you can find a great deal of information and the IC diet which is very helpful at www.ic-network.com/handbook its a lot to read but well worth the time.
the IC hass helped many people with there systoms alone. Many of us are started off on elimron which is a drug to help coat our bladder lineing. saddy it can take up to six mths to a year to work but is well worth it if and when it does.
I can't use the elimron so instead i do at home installments of heparin which works a lot like the elimron but in a diff. form (not the same drug)
I hope this web site helps you with many of your question. please ask a way.
sending you hugs and prayers
Rhonda
