I dont guess headaches would be related to IC or maybe they would, like most chronic diseases, they are brought on by stress, or at least triggered some by stress, its not uncommon for me to have visual headaches, big reason why i cant tolerate the sun, espeically in the pool, I get like white blindness, where all looks white while in direct sunlight and in the pool reflecting it. i guess I am somewhat use to visual headaches, and can usally deal with them. But latley seems more frequent then usual. Anybody else experience more headaches when flaring then when not?? Just curious if me :loco: or others too :hmm: Thanks for any input....

I am not sure Sheryl I have heard that in some patients Elmiron can cause headaches I am not sure if you take elmiron or not. It could be a migraine also I get them sometimes too. I hope you feel better soon.

Sheryl my experience with headaches and migraines is that I never had one until my IC started. Strange probly not who knows I think they are releated. But for me stress is a major trigger of both flares and migraines. I hope you the best in finding something that works. Alot of times I have to get a shot when I get mine and the usually last for days. I have taken excedin migraine (spelling) and at times they have worked but the last time I took one I flared like really really bad.....

Yeah I have tryed excedrine the past, cant tolerate the aspirin though, causing ringing in my ears. My headaches have become more frequent lalty, so I think too its related, as bladder symptoms have been worsening, my headaches are mainly visual related, what type of shot do you get?...

Have you consulted your dr. about these headaches maybe he can give you something. My symptoms start as visual als when I get a migrain I get blurry vision that is how I know i am getting one. I take imitrex it helps me with my migraines. I also use innopran xl for high blood pressure and a migraine preventive it helps so you don't get so many migraines. good luck to you.

well last time I saw my pcp they were not as frequent as they are now, so didnt htink to mention to him, was more concerned with ongoign apin in lower back, that headaches at the time were not much of an issue at the time, but as the summer is pressing in they are becoming more frequnt. thanks for the suggestions on the meds I will ask about them next time I go to pcp, which I think will be soon, as he is a DO which means he can do back adjustments, and I am in need of one now. Thanks again...

I've had migraines my entire life. I think it is all part of the viscious circle of pain that we are caught up in. If they are new...you need to consutl with your dr. My headhaches became unbearable after my hysterectomy... I had then straight for2 months! I wanted to chop my head off. After seeing a neuro and having all sorts of epensive tests done...everything waws negative. He then sent me to a shrink! I finally decided to change gyns........who was appaled that my gyn did NOT have me on estrogen after my hysterectomy and thought that could be making htings worse. I took the estergoen patch and the headaches subsided! soemthing so simple but totally dismissed! I get occasional headahces form the meds that I take .....but they are NOT the sledgehammer like headaches that I had before. try to analyze when you get them and see where you think they are coming from. If you don't get any relief you need to see your dr.
i hope you feel better.

Mela, thanks for the reply, they are not slegdehammer headahes as you describe, but the y are visual, and they are not anything I havenot experienced before, but they are more frequnet than in the past, and was just trying to put peices of this crazy puzzle together, assuming the headaches go hand in hand with the IC, I will bring uo to URo and pcp that they are more frequent then in the recent past. Now as a child and teen, my headaches were the slegdehammer you desrcibe they were unbearable, where nothing could control them, so long ago (i am 36), I cannot remember what he had me on, statred with a h or and s, too long ago to remember, from my recollection it did nto work. fortunalty the headaches I have know are pretty limmited to visual migraines, allthough they do hurt some they are at least bearable, in comparision anyway to what I experinced in my child and teen years, I remeber being ten swallowing three tylnenl at once just to make them go away, it took the edge off but not much more than that. Anyway thanks again for taking the time to reply, it comforting ot know others care and will share there experiences to help others...thanks.....

A doctor told me once that headaches will usually come from someone being dehydrated. Try drinking more water the next time you get a headache.

But Yeah if I dont drink enough water I will get dehydrated, I dont go anywhere without my water. I think a big trigger for me right now anyways is the sun, or anything real bright, florescent lights. I am also know as a vampire at home too, my family thinks I have lost it :loco: . will only swim when no sun is out, my husband thinks I am Morticia(spelling??) from the Adams Family, I swin in the rain, and run for cover when the sun comes out, he just laughs :biglaugh: Oh well, gotta do what ya gotta do to feel good.......

Hi!
Iv'e had headaches as long as I can remember. Over the years they have just gotten worse and become true migraines. The pain usually starts on one side of my head and then spreads. I usually end up vomiting and wanting just wanting to beput out of my agony any way possible. A good shot of demerol sometimes does the trick but often I have to go back for a second shot or take more of my own meds at home before the pain will really be gone. It can take a week or more.
The best things for me have been a preventative called Tapamax and a new pill I take as soon as I feel the headach coming on. It is called Relpax. hope I spelled those right! Anyway, I still end up in ER at times and insuranse wont pay for as many of the Relpax as the doctor says I need but still I'm doing better than before. I'm also taking a few vitamins that are supposedto help prevent migraines and seeing a therapist to help deal with some of the stress in my life.
I know my migraines are causes by stress, hormones, a neck injury, and changes in my sleep patterns. Sometimes you can be sensitive to different foods too.
Hope this info helps. God Bless!!!!!!!
