How long does it take for Elavil to work..

Well I took the 50 mgs last night..I took me over an hour to go to sleep...but I DID NOT get up to pee. That is the first time in a long tme..it was nice. My question is..THis morning I still feel like i have to pee all the time. Will the Elavil help this too? Or will it just help me at night? And if it does help during the day how long will it take before I see improvement? Thanks

It took me about a week to start feeling any improvement from Elavil, two weeks before my symptoms were drastically reduced. Within two weeks, I was feeling relief throughout the entire day. Keep taking it.. it should help soon enough....

I would say it takes up to 2 wks before you will notice a difference in your symptoms.

My experience was similar. It took about a week to really know it was helping. I was very groggy for a couple of weeks and had wierd dreams. These symptoms went away after a few months. I do make sure to take Elavil around 7:00pm so its not so hard to get up in the morning.

The first night I took Elavil I slept a whole 4 hours - I was thrilled (I'd been only able to sleep 20min at a time for over a month before that). Within a week I was sleeping through the night with only 1-2 bathroom trips.

Daytime relief took longer, maybe several weeks? Even then I could hold it longer, but the sensation of needing to void took a long time to go away...
