Hi everyone as you know I am struggling to find out if I have IC or not. The last doc I went to said NO! But I still have question. ITa in my mind that I do. I have been off the diet now and I can eat or drink anything I want and it doesn't seem to effect me. Mt question to you is how many times should a person without IC urinate? I always tell my doc. 6 to 8 times a day, and usually once at night. But I started a bladder diary and I differ each day. The other day I drank 80oz of water and urinated 6 times. And yesturday I drank 160 oz of water and with ten times. Is this frenguency or is it because of how much I drank. Today I drank about 20oz of coffee and 40 oz of water. It is 1:00 and have urinated 5 times and are getting ready to go again? If this to much. Should I call my doc and tell him I have frequency? Does coffee make you go more. I just don't know what to do. Since they told me to take a bladder diary all I think about is peeing. Even if I don't have to go I think about it so much. I I am questioning if I am going to much I think I make myself have to go! Does thius make since. Does it sound to you like I have frequency? Shouls I call doc. I am on no meds.
Thank you

I have Ic and I don't have the frequency symptoms. I have the pelvic pain and the burining pain it is the other way around for me I ahve urinary retention neurogenic bladder that is what causes my ic. did your dr. do a cysto or hydrodistention ot potassuim senstivity test. good luck.

I can't remember how many times a day I went before the IC started but I know I never got up at night. Before the heparin helped me I would go during the day (without drinking) just about every 20-30 minutes. If I drank anything then about every 5-10. Just mention bathroom and I would have to go. Same at night also. Since the heparin has helped I only go once at night and during the day it differs. When I drink it can be every 20 minutes for about 2 hours and then only once every 1 1/2. It's all different for everyone. Maybe get a second opinion on it?

One more thing....water was my enemy until I started the cystopek. Water would kill my bladder pain wise and peeing wise. Plus coffee/pop would make it all worse.

I have gotten three op. One says yes ones says no and ones says maybe but unlikely. And the one that said yes is a horrible doc to talk to. So I willnot see her. And the other doc's decided not to treat me. One started me on meds and then siad that she didn't think they would help. I don't hurt but sometimes in my ureatra. The two doc's that say no tell me that the pain is coming from mu muscles. and when they touch that musle it makes me jump. But I have always told them I don't have frequency but just this last week since the b;adder diary I have done nothuing but hinjk about peeing.

I guess exacltly what I am asking is

1. Does water effect how many times you go?

2. I never noticed going to the bathroom alot before my yes diagnoses. Now I concentrate so much on it it feels like I am making myself go.

3. What is the average number of times a person without IC goes?

Thank you guyts for always helping me.

1. Does water effect how many times you go? Yes water and water based products ie coffee, koolaid and tea can affect how much you go. My dad does not have IC but always drinks tea. You never see him without it and goes all the time to the bathroom.

2. I never noticed going to the bathroom alot before my yes diagnoses. Now I concentrate so much on it it feels like I am making myself go. I dont think that neccess that you are making yourself go more I think that you are more aware of it and the urges to go.

3. What is the average number of times a person without IC goes?
I was told by my first uro that a normal amount for someone to go is 8 or less. Altough I think 8x is alot for a normal person. My husband may go 4x, I wish I was that way. Also going 8 to 10 could still mean you have IC.

Have you had an cysto/hydro done under sedation. This is will be the only thing to give a clear diagnose. If not maybe you can do it or the PST test so that you will not keep wondering if you do or not. I wish you the best

hope this is helpful to you

1. Does water effect how many times you go?
I think any thing liquid no matter if it is water or not. Water is better for IC patients

2. I never noticed going to the bathroom alot before my yes diagnoses. Now I concentrate so much on it it feels like I am making myself go.
that will eventually end, I think we all do that from time to time..

3. What is the average number of times a person without IC goes?
I think the average is 7 to 10..
wow that sure would be nice to do.
