Hi every one,

this is just to thank you all for all of your help and advise. It has been about 9 months since official diagnosis of IC and when it all first happened, I didnt know were to look or what to do. Since I have found you all, I have done and is still doing the diet, I watch what exercises I do so that i dont get pain and take my medications daily.

Well all of your imputs and suggestions has led me to today when I went to the uro. I had my usual check up that I normally have evry 3 months and the doctor was so impressed that he was speachless. Now he still understands that my employement is having and issue with all of this and he is ok with dealing with that but overall, he says that my bladder pain and capacity have gotten better by 80%..YOUPPIE .. I was so happy when he said that i was then speechless. I understand that I will have to keep doing the diet and doing the all the meds but man i felt really good in the office when he was saying all those things.

So once again THANK YOU EVERY BODY FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL ADVISED AND SUGGESTIONS. I will stick around and chat and still talk with you all but I just wanted to let you all know of this and say many many thanks to all.

Love you all

Glad to hear you are feeling better..

What meds did you take that helped you?

I have taken Elvail and nothing else for fifteen years, and found it has helped me tremendously (tried Elmiron for nine months and my hair fell out - didn't seem to do anything better than Elvail)

Hugs :bunny:

I wish everyone could benefit from Elvail as I have - I know how miserable flares are, and that they can happen at the worst times such as vacations, or trying to get through each day when you have to work or carry on with life in general. I would suggest that this drug be tried out if other things aren't working, as I take nothing else, and hopefully someone else will benefit from it and make life at least at a tolerable level..

hi gals,

i am on detrol la 4mg and i also have to take the birth control and ponstat 4 times a day. Its alot of meds but other than being a little sleepy, I feel good if I watch what I eat. So that is the trick I think. I also make sure to flush out the bladder really good once a week like my uro says to do so that helps too.

thanks for all your replies

Minnie Min,
Just wondering what you doctor means about flushing out your bladder good once a week? I haven't heard that before. Does he tell you to drink a certain amount of water in one day or something?
Thanks in advance,

Yes, I was very interested in knowing what a bladder wash out is? I know that the best thing we ICers can drink is water - but I also have heard that nectars are good also.

Tea is the worst thing for me - even a cup in the morning bothers me - but coffee doesn't have the same effect in so much that it causes pain, just makes me runto the bathroom.

Thanks and hugs

Sunnidee :)

hi again,

sorry i gues i should have been more clear but what he means for me as to flushing the bladder is to have a full can of acid free apple juice as well as 2 cups of water within a period of 3 hrs and then just to let it sit in the bladder a little so that it will clean it. And I know it sounds a little funny but it works for me and when I do it, my urine is a really bright yellow/brown color which he says its because by doing this its cleaning itself out;

try it out and see but just make sure the apple juice is acid free ok

hope it helps

What brand of acid-free apple juice do you use? And how many ounces are in a full can? I've never heard of this before and it sounds interesting. Thanks.
