I am in so much pain this past week has been worse I haven't been able to sleep for a couple of hours a night. I don't know what to do?

I always felt the worst when I wasn't sleeping. I always felt like I was in pain with the IC then. It's been a while since those days - now I'm regulated on meds. I'm on a couple that cause drowsiness (especially the antihistamine) which usually gives me a pretty full night's sleep.

I would also encourage you to call your doctor. I hope you are feeling better soon and get a full night's sleep.

These recommendations came from other patients and books...

There are non prescriptions herbs that can helps you sleep….please talk to your doc before adding any herb or vitamin but since many of us struggle with sleeping having some remedies on hand can help. Herb list: catnip, Melontin, Valerian, Chamomile, Hops, Lemon Balm, Peppermint, Self help: warm milk, chamomile tea, Exercise regularly, but not within two hours of going to bed. Sleep in a well-ventilated room. A relaxful warm bath is helpful. Avoid things too stimulating close to bedtime. Sex is always helpful (but not if it increases your symptoms too much). Full body message really helps but in doing to yourself ears and forehead…facial area message is the most efficient. Self hypnosis can help. I enjoy trying to remember a peaceful dream I have had and focus on the picture as I breathe deeply and in rhythm in and out…

Emilyrose I get the nocturia too, almost evrery night I am up soemtimes 3x an hour. I ts very frsutrating, Its not so much pain as urgency, but at imes there is pain in my very low abdomen, either right or left side, soemtimes I feel like I haev appendisitus, but pretty sure I dont, that feeling usally occurs around ovualtion time for me, so I thnk somethign is goign on with my ovaries to give me that feeling, but it will feel lie a bladderinfection sometimes, on time so bad prompted me to go to the gyno, and I hate to go, but he said no infection, then I said why do I feel like I have one, then, he sent me to Urologist, so here I am now. Katrina had some real good suggestions we might try. Good luck to you...

Mine is pain I don't have urgency I have neurogenic bladder urinary retentention I have a diffcult time going to the bathroom. My pain doc prescribed me topomax and upped my elavil to 50 mg at night.

I hope the increase in meds help. Last night was one of those I wasup as usall going, except, last each time I went i could not go, I hate thatbecasue the pain and urgency was there to go, so my 3x an hour up was spent not going, but haveing to, whats strange is I had dmso treatment number 4 yesterday, same thing after fisrt void horrible cramping, no burning just bad cramping, I am wondering why?? to get around the pain these last two treatments I have been takinga darvocet and a half valium and lying down, seemd to take the edge off, but the whole day i had that crampy feeling low down, and thats unusaull for me, and I am not pmms yet, so I know has to do with the dmso treatments. Still having a hard tiem voiding this morning, hate that. i know it must be awful for you. Letus us know if the increased in meds amt helps you, good luck hope you get some relief.....

Thanks Kim, am doing better now, finally after a decent void. Cramping has gone away, but that bloating, i tell you someone has got to put an end to this bloating stuff LOL. I hope you are doing better too, let usknow if the med increase helps some...
