Ok so I am going to try and eliminate all carbonated caffeinated citric drinks. So that leaves water, milk. What about kool-aid? Gator aid? Does anyone else have any ideas? I guess flavored water is out also. I am not much of a milk drinker and force myself to drink water. So I guess no to sprite since it is carbonated. This is going to be hard!!! Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Dees! The no's outweigh the yes's on the beverages, but there are some things that you can drink........pear and possibly blueberry juice, water (some waters might bother you, so stick with distilled or filtered water......Evian is good for many) Cammomile tea or peppermint tea (try iced for the summer!)
Milk can always be made into milk shakes ;)
You can do a search of the boards to get more ideas!
Gentle hugs.............Julie B :)

I've not tried Gator aid, but I know Kool Aid is a killer for me. I believe it's the citric acid in it. Flavored waters hurt me too and I'm guessing they also contain the citric acid.
Mostly I drink water and milk. Occasionally herbal tea. Still, one never knows for sure what will cause any individual person to flare. Sometimes, what one person may tolerate another will be in extreme pain from. The smallest bit of citric acid (Soda, juice, candies, imitation maple syrup, etc) and I'm in pain, yet I've found beer brands I can drink with no problem. Go figure! My suggestion is to try anything suspect in very small amounts and see how your bladder reacts. If you experience a flare, read the label, noting the ingredients, and then treat each ingredient as 'suspect' until you can eliminate them as a cause.
Good luck!

I have tried the "blue" flavor of Power aid and it did not give me any pain. I think it was called mountain breeze flavor. It is true that everyone is different and what works for one does not work for all.
For me:
Water,
Milk (cold or hot with vanilla & cinnamon or honey)
Blueberry juice (I get "Just Blueberry" from Trader Joe's)
Pear juice (when I can find one without citric acid. I like Looza pear juice when I can find it---Whole Foods)
Original Rice Dream rice milk
Carob Rice Dream (good hot or iced)
Sobe Lizzard Blizzard (coconut flavored drink. Super sweet - so I dilute with 1/2 water)
Low acid decaf coffee (Puroast brand. I order it online & they mail it to me)

It's best if you can stick to water just long enough to find out if you feel better. Then you can try some other drinks. In summer, I buy Torini or DaVinci sugar free flavored syrups (they're sweetened with Splenda) --- I then add just a tiny bit to ice cold water and it makes a refreshing drink.

I think that it's best to get rid of anything acidic right away...especially coffee and sodas. There's no good fruit juice for me except pear juice and even that I have to get without added citric acid. I can drink decaffenated teas sometimes, and can even get away with low acid coffees, but it has to be during a time when I am not having a flareup. The flareups seem to come cumulatively. One bad thing...I might get away with, two bad things, I start feeling some discomfort....but if I ignore it and keep doing bad things...then I go into a painful flare and have to stop whatever I am doing and go lie down with a heating pad. I wish I could say I have this under control. I am still trying to kid myself that I can drink and eat things that I have to give up.....
