I used to be able to wear jeans just fine, but lately I've noticed that I now when I wear my jeans I'll start hurting "down there" and have a burning sensation in the urethal area. Is this normal for IC? And what can I do because I don't want to wear my yoga pants all the time.

I mostly live in jeans in winter, but switch over to lighter pants in summer. If I get them large enough so they don't bind, they are fine for me.

I can only wear loose fitting jeans now. Tight jeans or any kind of tight pants give me pain esp in the urethal area.

Hi, I too can only wear loose fitting jeans as I can't stand anything too tight round my lower region. Style is out the window now much of the time for me as I live in baggy oversized garments. I sometimes get down about looking like this, but at the end of the day if I feel more comfortable in baggies then why should I care what anyone else thinks?

Me too. Can't stand any kind of pressure over my lower abdomen. I can wear sort of snug jeans but the waistband has to be around my navel to be comfortable. Difficult to find pants nowadays since everything, even sweats, seems to be so low-cut!

sheryl*, do you have a lot of bloating? I have found that I'm bloated two- three weeks of every month. Is that something to do with IC?

I've found that bigger jeans work best for me. Also, the kind that have stretch to them. This past year I actually started buying a larger size to help. I don't like the bigger number, but it's more comfortable on my bladder.

I found some jeans by Elizabeth (division of Liz Claiborne for larger sizes) that have no waistband, just the fabric folded down inside. Those are really comfy. They come in size 14W-24W.

A friend who went maternity shopping says they make those for maternity pants & if you wear a loose longish shirt no one will ever know they aren't "normal" on the top. I might try those...

Sounds like a good idea KAdi!
Southern, I dont know if the blaoting is a sign of ic or not I am still in the midst of dx with the dmso treatments, but i think my bloating has worsend since the treaments, It seems I am bloated all months, and thats normal, it was there before the ic treatments, but not this bad. But i have been searching through some real old posts here, dont know exactly how i got there but i book marked it for reference so i can go back to it, and there are several who refer to ic belly, sounds very much like what I am expeiencing all the time now, so I woulf have to say the it may be a symptom of ic from what i am reading http://www.ic-network.com/forum/archive/index.php?f-77.html this should be the list of symptoms i found here, you may want to reference them too, some interesting similarities I have found to mine, good luck...

No jeans here either, or underwear most of the time! I have to buy loose-fitting pants (elastic waist) and those I buy about a size too big just so I don't have pain.

No jeans for me either. I like very loose fitting pants and many times get them with a drawstring.

Hey Southern Girl!
Tight jeans bug me, too. I either wear my jeans slightly baggy, or I don't wear 'em. Oh, I just couldn't bear to give away my favorite old pair of tight jeans (that made my butt look fab!) to a thrift store, so I gave them to my former step-sister :D
I suggest you buy some skirts and dress slacks. You can still look very sexy without your tight jeans! Give those away to either a local thrift store, or to a close friend who wears a similar size.

I can't wear jeans or many of my old pants that I used to because they are tight on the top and press into my bladder when I sit. The best pants I have found are low-rise loose linen pants from old Navy. I hate the look of low-rise, so I just wear them around my waist with a belt. It looks fine and they are very loose.

I'm sitting here in hipster cotton pants, loose fitting. But I will have to take them off very soon as they are really hurting me :(

I went and bought a pair of jeans about 3 sizes bigger than my tight ones. They look a little baggy but not too bad and I can wear them all day comfortably--Yea!!!

I can't wear jeans at all or 3/4 of the pants out there. I can wear a few different pairs but most of the time I wear those baggy cargo pants. They are not flattering and my daughter in law told me they looked like I inflated them with air! The irony is that I've lost weight but here I am in unflattering pants. It's a drag.

I really understand who you feel.
