The good news is that my Doctor had a cancellation today so I got to go in and see him instead of having to wait a whole month. I was really happy about that. Now I need some thoughts and information on his plan of treatment. He wants to start Heparin Installations this week and do them once a week. He said if they help and I start to feel better then after awhile we will space them further apart. What has everyones experience been with this? I guess what I'm asking is-has it helped anyone? He is not prescribing any other meds. at this time besides the Urelle(which is like pyridium sp?) and to try the Prelief. I know I will have a harder time taking oral meds. because I am on coumadin and every med. effects my coumadin level which I have to watch all the time anyways. I'm hoping these Heparin installs help this pain.

I dont have any experience w/heparin instills, although there are some here that do. I do take prelief when I am going to eat/drink something questionable, and it helps a bit. Mainly I just wanted to wish you luck on your instills. Take care!

Heparin is a stronger form of elimron and it did great for me!! its been a God sent! at one point i had over 90 pinpoint bleeding spots on my bladder. well now i have maybe four or five (about four or five mths ago when they looked last) however i have those nasty hunners. what the heparin does it coats the bladder lining where the pinpoint bleeding is coating the bladder lining helps cover the pinpoint bleeding so there not bleeding anymore which should cause less pain in the bladder. (it did for me) UNTIL i had other female problems.
my bladder is still mad from the hy. plus i have a UTI right now and an IV in my arm due to the infection.
but still taking the heparin treatment is still relief for my upset bladder.
hope this helps some and I pray it helps you like it did me. with the heparin and marcaine treatments i went into remission for eightteen mths and i pray i go back in remission again.
sending you hugs and prayers

It helped me a lot with the peeing problem (only get up once and had two seperate nights where I didn't get up at all) and when the pain is bad with that. It may take some time. Do you know how long your doctor wants you to try it? I had it done once a week at the doctors off for 6 months before it started to help so give it some time. I have the heparin/lidocaine done and now will be adding the sodium bicarb. Good luck with it.

I am so happy to hear that the Heparin instills really do help some of you. Just knowing this does my heart good (and hopefully my bladder. lol ) So do a lot of doctors teach you and then let you do the instills at home? My doctor said he sets aside every Weds. for these procedures so I'm wondering if he will ever let me learn and do them myself.
I have been getting heparin instills since last October, once a week at first, and now every other week. They have really helped alot! :woohoo: I know that it is the instills that help, because when we tried to move to every three weeks I got really bad flares. Now that we're back to twice a month, I can feel the difference. My doctor hasn't talked to me about doing them at home, but my doc is so close, it has been easy to get there and it doesn't take long, so I rather go there to have him do it. Hope it helps you too!
