Has anyone noticed increased bloating with the IC, I guess when in a flare, and not just when pmsing but throughout the month?? :hmm:
I have not sure if its the IC or maybe the dmso treatments?? Any thoughts?..Sheryl

Yes, I have it too. In the beginning I kept telling the doc it felt like I had a basketball in my stomach. I just put up with it now. Sometimes I feel like a whale.

So do you feel like this all month, for me its been all month, is it due to the IC itself or the dmso treatments or both?? I have not experienced all month bloating for awhile it seems since I statred these dmso treatments I have all month bloating not just pms time. Thanks for the replies!!

Hi Sheryl -
Absolutely! The bloating is so random that it seems unrelated to anything I do or ingest. Can't be DMSO, as I don't receive these treatments. One day I'm fine, the next I'm like an inflated balloon. My doc just says "It's part of IC". Haven't yet been able to find an informative answer.

The only time I get tummy swelling is after sex I look 6 mos or more pregnant. Sometimes I get swelling when I have eaten a hidden flare food. Eating out or going to eat at friend or relatives house you tell them you have IC but they don't get it I guess.

I had a hysterectomy in 2001 so I know my swelling is not monthy thing.

Hi,

I, too, had a hysterectomy so don't think it's pms. I also bloat from time to time. Don't really understand it either. Some days more bloated than others.....:(

Hang in there.

Hi newicer and photolindy
This is an old thread but still relevant and a question that is often brought up...we often call the bloated sensitive belly by it's unofficial name: "IC Belly"...many of us suffer with that! I don't know that any of us know the real reason behind it nor is there anything med-wise to specifically treat it, that I know of, but some members here have reported some relief with the Rx anthisitamine Atarax. I haven't taken Atarax, but have gotten some symptom relief with cold packs on my belly. I got IC Belly a lot during my first couple years w/ IC symptoms, at first more related to my cycle but then just all the time or just whenever...for whatever reason as the years passed it has become less of a problem for me. Hope this helps a little...welcome and best wishes:)Bri
