I was just diagnosed with IC a few weeks ago. My doctor seems to be very arrogant. He is the 3rd urologist that I have seen in the last 8 months. (No one up to this point has been able to tell me what is going on.) Anyway, I urinate about 6 times an hour and I am in pain about 23-26 days out of each month. My doctor has not put me on any medicine what so ever. Is this normal? If so what can I do to relieve my pain? I have tried several over the counter medicines. With nothing helping. Everytime I take any medicine I feel worse than before I took the medicine. It makes my stomach cramp and I have shooting pains all through my abdominal and low back area, along with the constant feeling that I am going to pass out at any given moment. Can anyone give me any advice. (P.S. I already know about the food and I am cutting several things out of my diet with no relief.)
 Someone help me please!!!!

If your uro's are failling you, until you find a good one at least, go to a pain specialist. I tried Neurontin for a while with some relief, but I didn't feel better until I got up to about 700mg a day.

Apparently my dr does not prescribe any type of pain medicine for his IC patients.

I would find another dr. you can't continue this way with out any type of pain control.

Thanks for the advice. I have afraid to find a new dr. I have been to so many drs in the last year for so many different things. I am just over the whole "well lets start from the beginning thing". But thanks so much for the advice. I will look into finding another urologist.

If your current urologist is not recommending any kind of treatment, it definitely is time to get another opinion. Sometimes it takes more than one visit to decide on a treatment plan. Do you have a follow up appointment?
