i am soon to move out with my boyfriend. but i will need some sort of income. if i have to work i have to work.. no matter how much pain it will cause, but will they see it as i can work, even though it would be so hard. i cant wait 2 years to get a settlement. i am in debt and dont really know wht to do! i dont want to work if it screws up the desicion. but i know i cant wait that long to start having an income. did anyone work while waiting for the desicion?

Working while you wait for SSD can have a negative effect on your case. They look at if you can work at all, and if you are currently working they will say you are able to work and not grant you SSD benefits. If you are splitting from your boyfriend you might try to get the SSI benefits while you wait. SSI is not much money but its some. Personnally I would not work while I was waiting on a decision because it can come back to haunt you. Actually when I went in front of the judge it was the occupational expert that helped me win my case. He stated there was no job in the national encomny that I could do with my IC case being so bad....

If you are able to work, you would probably not qualify.

My lawyer told me that you can still work and get SSD as long as you are making less than $800.00 a month.

Yep. I work for SSA and you can work, as long as you are not GROSSING more than $840.00 per month. I have seen people working for less than $840.00 per month still get approved for SSD benefits many times.

Good luck!
