Does anyone feel better when there bladder is full? I get no burning feeling when it is full only when I urinate it burns after. Is that normal? I notice that I urinate only around 4 to 5 times a day. I feel better when I hold it in.

Boy oh Boy are you lucky. My bladder is at it's worst stage of pain when it is full, if it gets to bad to where I'm on the road and can't stop......believe me when I do go I'm in so much pain, and then I go and It burns when it comes out and I take a big breath and still in alot of pain just because I waited to long to empty my bladder. I have never heard of anyone having relief with a full bladder. But there may be a person out there that feels the same. Sorry I couldn't help

I can't stand to have my bladder full, if I have a glass of water, I'm in the bathroom ten times. The more I drink the more I pee. :headbang:

Well....your feeling better during the time you are holding it...but your holding it which could be what is causing the burning. Maybe your burning is pfd....which can come from tightness (which can happen from holding it a lot). I would try and see if musscle relaxing helps you.

Use a topical analgesic, alternate heat and cold,
o Marshmallow root (althaea officinalis) helps sooth irritation and inflammation, can help spasms
Catnip (nepeta cataria) eases menstrual pain, soothes the nerves, and as a sleep aid.
http://www.algonot.com/ Algonot-Plus®: Algonot, LLC, is the maker of a line of nutraceuticals specifically designed to help with the symptoms of IC, chronic prostatitis, and arthritis. Their latest products, CystoProtek and ProstaProtek, combine the original Algonot-Plus formula with sodium hyaluronate:
o Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) mild sedative, reduces inflammation, relieve menstrual cramps, can help bladder spasms http://www.ic-network.com/cgi-bin/u...=Foods-Tea.html
cornsilk tablets are unreal!!!!! Good for burning but may up your frequency. Are mild dieuretics
Lavender Oil (the sent is a great for relaxing but to rub on bladder can also have a calming effect. Good for spasms)

• Moisture (Moisture helps relax your pelvis is calming to your bladder)
Warm Baths (NOT HOT!!!!) No bubble bath or strong soaps, please! Soft soaps, perfumed soaps, bath salts & bubble baths can be very irritating to an IC patient. However, you can put baking soda in the tub for extra comfort. SITZ Baths Definition: A sitz bath (also called a hip bath) is a type of bath in which only the hips and buttocks are soaked in water or saline solution. Its name comes from the German verb "sitzen," meaning "to sit." I recommend: (a tub divided into two …one half is filled with hot water and the other cold. With part of the body on one side and than switching and back again in quick succession) Recommended 3 times a day for 20 min each
Warm wash cloth

Yes, that's how I feel.

The pain is always worse after I go.
But, on the the other hand, if I wait too long the pain after is much worse.
A delicate balancing act to say the least...

I feel better if my bladder is fulland I hold my urine. For some reason the pain isn't as bad. Right after I go I begin to feel the pain and pressure again. I find that drinking water after i go to fill my bladder back up really helps and it doesn't have to be a lot of water. I also take Detrol so i am not sure if this medication might have something to do with it.

I am one who fill worse when my bladder is full. I actually cant even hold a full bladder without serious pain. For me emptying brings releif for a bit. I consider you lucky to be able to fill your bladder up, I wish I could do that.

I'm with Paula, my bladder always feels better when it's fuller. If I have pain after urination I immediately start drinking water again to fill up..which isn't hard because my mouth is perpetually dry from taking Eavil

I have pain with a full bladder, and burning in the whole pelvis if I hold it too long. I also experience intense burning throughout the pelvis, vulva and vaginal area after I urinate....sometimes it lasts until the next time I urinate. I also have this same burning after a bowel movment.

Now that I am on Prosed DS, I am able to hold my bladder for alot longer without having any spasms or problems emptying. I have been on it a little over a year now and I can actually go to the bathroom without even thinking about it. I also can hold it for several hours at a time. My urine is blue and stains everything but it's definitely worth it. I didn't go to the bathroom during my work day at all yesterday and I don't think I have gone today while at work.

I did just get over a flare, so I did have problems during my flare, but that was the first flare I have had in over a year. It was a horrible one and lasted for almost a month. I am so glad to get past that! Thanks to a lot of prayers and taking care of myself.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

mine is much better when full. I need to go but holding it feels better than the burning that will happen as soon as a go. I thought i was the only one who felt better holding it. Good to know.
