Hi everyone

Just thought I share this

Resentlly my husband Mark suffered from whats called gallstone Pancreatitis. Now I've learned over the course of three months about what he is going through. I've posted a lot of updates on how he his doing and he's getting better.

Gallstone pancreasitits is chronic pain it can cause a lot of damage overtime to your organs and could be deadly. Well my husband was lucky because of his age, He was young and in good shape. The puzzling thing is that he does not fit the profile for having Gallstone Pancreastitis, and a lot of people don't, but they still get it. Well the only thing is that both his parents had there gallbladders taken out without any complications.

Watching my Husband go through this was horiffic. One of Marks doctors (Dr Silverman) has been such a huge help. The doctor wanted Mark to talk with a man Scott who works as a sales person in the University of Iowa Hosptial. He went through a similar situation that mark did, but worse. He was an older man and was really open about his experience. He told us that he only has 20% of his pancreas left, slipped into a comma for six weeks and now is diabetic. I was so wide eyed when he told me that, I couldn't belive it. But they started to also talk about the mental state they both went through. The withdraws from morphine and not knowing what the date was, becuase the amount of time they spent in the hopstial. It was a turning point for me, and I almost cried when I was listening to them talk. I realize how strong people are. And also the love ones around them. (Scott has a wife and kids). He told Mark that things will get back to normal and life will go on. It just takes a while.

I think this really helped Mark to talk to someone about this. He tried going online network like this one, but they were being racist, that kind of shocked me. So talking with someone who can relate is awsome. Mark has to make ajustments now to his daily life. He's still going to be a musician (he's been drumming for 22 years of his life), he's never the type of person to quit what he loves know matter what happens.

This has been a life changing experience, I know that Mark wasen't close to death, but the doctor put it this way "you dodged a truck and only got hit in the butt."
Mark right now is still on his feeding tube, but he is improving very well and its going to take a few months to be better.

I want everyone to take care and be strong. :grouphug:
