There was a bomb threat at my high school.
Yesterday, at about 10 AM, the principal called an emergency evacuation of the entire school. All the students had leave the school immediately and wait at the football feild. The bomb squad came, as well as police officers and firemen.
Apparently, someone had written "SHOOTING: JUNE 03 2005" on the boy's bathroom wall. Then, a mysterious box, covered in duct tape, had been found propped against an enterence. I've heard that someone also phoned in a "bomb threat", though that might have been a rumor.
We students waited outside for three hours. My friends and I used our cell phones to call the local news station, but they said that they already knew about the situation.
When the bomb squad determined that the package was safe to open, they found the mangled corpse of a dead cat. Rumor has it that someone stole one of the cats used for dissection from the anatomy room and mutilated it as a threat.
My high school appeared on the local news, with the bomb squad's truck right outside.
Today, the principal announced that anyone who decided not to come to school tomorrow would be granted an automatically excused absence. However, he added that he had arranged for an emergency police squad to occupy the school tomorrow, and for extra police to stay in the school for the remainder of the year. Rumor has it that police dogs will also be present, perhaps even metal detectors.
I have decided that I will go to school anyway tomorrow. The security has been increased to the point where it would be very difficult to pull anything off. However, more than half of the school will not be present.
It's strange that this is happening at my high school. People are starting to call us "Columbine the Second" already.
Everything is just all messed up!

Oh heavens I hate to think this is the real world out there its so scary! I really wish i could homeschool my children for that very reason. only if my health would allow me to do so. I would!! I will be praying for you and your school. Your dang right if they said i could be out tomorrow because of this threat i would for fear someone would try something.
God bless you all!!

I'm glad that the package was a cat & not a bomb. How scary! A few months ago, they found a pipe bomb behind my daughter's elementary school. It's just not right & I don't understand what's going on with all these violent kids these days. Things like this were never heard of 10 years ago. Glad you are ok.

It is scary. I can't imagine going to school now-a-days.
But it even happened when I was in high school. I couldn't tell you how many bomb threats we received. And we weren't half as big as, say, a school in a big city. A couple of times we even had students set off smoke bombs.

I'm sure glad no one was hurt and you are safe. :grouphug:
