I am sorry you are going through this . I found that lidocaine creme with aloe helps me and also uristat. they also say also an acid reducer helps but it has never helped me. good luck.

I drink a lot of water and sometimes take Uristat. Also, sitting in a warm tub of water has helped. My Nurse Practioner also suggested that pee while sitting in water. She also told me not to wipe, to use a stream of water to rinse and pat dry. I use a regular water bottle and squeeze the water out as I pee. There's no pain like it and so many people don't want to hear about it. The tell me TMI (too much information).

Hi Pnut, I will put a teaspoon of baking soda in a 8oz glass of water when I start to feel the burning and it works for me.good luck Cinder
Try a cold to lukewarm sitz bath with 2 tablespoons of baking soda. That can be very soothing. Aveeno Oatmeal baths are suppose to be soothing, too. Also, go without underwear when at home so that there is less rubbing.
Wow, thanks for all the good ideas, I'll try them.
I think the salt from the potato chips was the culprit, because it was almost right after I had eaten them ( about 1/2 - 1 hour after ) and BOY was I on fire, ughhhhh. It finally subsided, but every now and then I feel a little.
I've been paying attention to this, and for me, it's the salt that does it. I had eggo's the other morning and they have 440mg of sodium! WOW, no WONDER I burned after that, so NO more salt for me!
Thanks for all your good ideas, I'll try them. I just hope I won't have to if I keep my salt intake at a LOW.
BIG HUGS,
Dee :grouphug:

That is all you can do is watch what foods your bladder has an reaction too. and try to avoid them like I know now to stay away from zesty italian dressing that made me flare after I ate it with some pasta salad.
I always wondered if salt was a trigger for me, too. Problem is, salty tastes so good...I'd take salty snacks over sweets any day :)
Chocolate covered pretzels are the best of both worlds...sweet and salty! Hope you feel better soon! I buy low salt or no salt chips. They are a bit more expensive. I find them at Trader Joes and Whole Foods as well as some of the bigger grocery stores.

I have a lidacaine gel I put right into the urethra. It comes in a little plastic bottle. Can do it every 4 hours if needed.

Great Pnut. That burning is always the WORST for me. I take something called Azo Standard. It's a urethra number. In about half an hour i can not feel any of the burning. It's over-the-counter at any walgreens.
Also, I take the sitz baths. I cheat a bit on the baking soda though. i use.. well.. haha. as much as I want. I sit in about 4 inches (so it's just above the urethra) for 15 to 20 minutes.
Oddly enough, crouching down.. On the balls of my feet resting my back on the bottom of a couch, seems to help as well.
I hope those darn chips don't sneak up on you again.
