Well, it was time. I took the kitties to the Humane Society today to be adopted out. I am so sad!

Poor Ember, the Momma cat, is laying around the house just meowing and meowing. She is calling them to come to her.

I feel just awful now. But I have 4 of my own and 4 dogs, and could not keep the kittens!

Besides, I rescued these kittens form the horse barn where they would NOT have survived, and now they are healthy kitties and will go into loving homes, and DEFINATELY spayed or neutered.

I informed my hubby that i am keeping Ember for a few more weeks. She is nothing but bones after nursing all those babies for so long! They are almost 7 weeks old and she would still let them nurse! Most of the time tho they would just snuggle Momma.

I miss my little Buffy, the only girl and the runt. I also miss my Crook, he was my little Wild Man, always the first into trouble, the first to try new things and with no fear. The others I will miss, too.

My son says "Mommy, I miss the Kiddens" He goes to speech terapy in school, so I think his words are sweet. Poor little guy. But I've explained to him that it's not fair for us to keep the kittens because there are other little boys who want a kitten for their own! he is ok with that..

I am sooo sad! Poor Ember just calling and calling for her babies.

(I know she's not in heat, I had her spayed just days after I brought her and the babies home from the barn)

so sad, I was never a cat person but since i've moved back to the farm and the country, i now have 3 in the house and we have some new babies in the barn. they are soooooooooooooooooo cute. I've been keeping a watchful eye on one as it's eyes get goopy so keep them clean.

As I speak the three I have are all on their pillow by the window where the sun is shinning in so cute. So funny the positions they can get into when sleeping.

Then there is Mickey my dog that I've had for 9 years, he just looks at me and says "mom what the heck happened here, it was just you and me, where did "they" come from and why"

LOL

((((((((((hugs)))))))))) Being a cat person (which fits well since my nickname to many around here is Kat....I totally understand!

Kittens are so great...but somehow they all grow up to be cats...even if one of mine doesn't seem to realize that.

I am seriously worried about Ember.
She spent the night crying for her kittens
and now her milk sacs are swolllen. :(

She was done nursing them.
So I took them to the humane society.

I wonder if she has made more milk
because she misses them.
I feel so bad for her. :help:

Michelle what an angel you are to take in mama and her kittens. I can't imangine how hard it was to hand the little cuties over to the humane society.

You did the best thing. I would also have the momma spayed even if you end up finding her a home; in the meantime give her a stuffed toy or two as a substitute--that usually works( for dogs at least).

Thank you. I have had her spayed, when the kittens were less than 1 week old. She is not crying for them anymore, but still has swollen milk sacs. I am givingher another day or so then I'll take her in to the vet. I worry about her. I just hurt today and can't seem to get motivated to move if I don't have to. I will try the stuffed toy thing. Thanks. Michelle.
