Could it be IC?

I am writing about my son's teacher, and my friend, Diane.

She is mid-20's and has been suffering for years with bladder infections.

Her pattern is not after sex, as you would think, but after her period.

She wants to get married and have a baby SOON. I am cautioning her to wait and see what is causing this pattern of infections.

She does have to pee often enough. She gets up at night a couple of times. She is in pain often.

What are the "other" possible diagnoses? I've collected IC information to give to her. I want to give her all the info I can.

I she having actual infections confirmed by cultures? If so, it may not be IC. At any rate, I think it would be a good idea for her to see a urologist.

She does sometimes have her diagnosis confirmed by cultures, but not always. Sometimes it is negative.

Anyone else want to weigh in on this???

This story of your friend was exactly how I was my whole life until 3 months ago.. perhaps she could have subclinical IC...but who knows, because I dont even know if I have IC yet!
