Hi. I am 23 years old and just found out i have ic. When i got tested i could only hold 100ml of water in my bladder before i was in so much pain it brought tears to my eyes. I am going in for surgery to stretch my bladder soon and it just makes me so nervous.
I am glad to finally have answers and know what i have but its all kinda scary once you know what you have too. It makes it easier to have a site where you can go talk to people who have the same thing and can relate to you.

Welcome and good luck! I too am recently diagnosed. I am 28. It was such a long hard road to my diagnosis, and I am thankful now that I know what is wrong with me. This message board has been a life saver for me, and I'm sure you will soon see that for yourself! Just wanted to say HELLO! Sometimes the hydro/cysto (is that what you are having done?) can help with symptoms. WELCOME!

Yes- Welcome! I laughed when I read an earlier post that asked, "We're a strange bunch, aren't we?" because all of the years I have had IC (over 25) I thought I was the only strange one! It is so good to know there is a place I can come and no longer feel like the only one in the world that may be experiencing a particular dilemna with IC. Even though we can not cure you here, you will feel a lot better when you leave, from personal experience. Welcome to the club!

Glad to have you join us, Jamie.
I felt the same way at first, -Happy to have a name for what I was living with and scared when I found out exactly what it was! The more I learned about IC, the less scared I became. And this site is a great place to learn how to live with IC!
Welcome!

Glad you found us -- it can be hard at first but most patients find treatments that help them immensely and begin to feel better. Most of us go on to live normal lives! :)

Everyone is so nice and i am so greatful to have found this site. Its strange to me not knowing what is the ic and what might be something else. I have been off work sick since jan. First i ended up in the hospital sick and ended up in icu and they didn't know what was wrong and then ended up taking my gullbladder out and then went home soon after ended up back in a couple days later with pain in my back and stomach so bad it hurt to breath and came out a week or so later and didn't find out what was wrong and a couple weeks later ended up going back in was given a medication for a bladder infection that i was allergic to and took them two days to figure out that it was the reason why i was full of fluid about twenty pounds of fluid. and sunday i ended up with pain in my back and stomach again and wonder maybe its part of my ic. I am getting so frustrated. They have me on Darvon for the pain and its just not working. I don't mean to sound like a pity story i just wish i could figure out whats all wrong.

Welcome to the board!
I'm also in my 20's (I'm 25) and I suffer from IC as well. I haven't started ANY kind of treatment yet, but I am on the road to getting all of that worked out. After reading a magazine article about IC a year or so ago, I thought I may have it, and this week, I found out that I do.
If you ever want to talk, or you need someone to vent to, feel free to post or e-mail me! I have found this message board to be a great place for support!
Megan :)

One thing I think may be part of why sometimes our stomachs hurt with our IC flare up is that we are overly acidic there too...It definatly seems to be likely for me! I know quite a few times before I was diagnosed I would go to the doctor or ER thinking I had the flu because of my stomach pain....and was told I had a urinary infection. hmm??
I am so sorry you are in so much pain and went through so much to get diagnosed.
When my IC flared up to the point where I pushed hard for a diagnosis...I ended up having a lot more going on than just IC that got diagnosed that year...even more the next...a big struggle but with treatments I sure feel a lot better than I did than. I hope you get relief!! :grouphug:
