I've recently been diagnosed with IC, and was perscribed Elmiron. I am taking the Elmiron, but am also looking into alternative therapy. I am going to start taking Quercetin, Bromelain, Calcium/Magnesium as well as Flax and Hemp Oils. I am also getting acupunture and am following a strict diet and doing yoga. I am very curious to know if anyone knows of any PROBLEMS OR COMPLICATIONS with taking alternative therapies in combination with Elmiron?? The pharmacist didn't see a problem in taking Bromelain and Elmiron together...is this what you have heard too?
Thanks!!

I take both Elmiron and Cystoprotek (glucosamine, chondroitin, quercetin and hyaloronic acid), and both my uro and the folks at Cystoprotek have told me it's fine to take both at once. I also take calcium and magnesium daily, and flax seed oil occasionally, and have had no problems doing so.

I would only add in one new thing at a time so you can tell if it is having a positive or negative effect.

You really should discuss this with your physician before combining herbal or over-the-counter medications with prescription medications, regardless of which prescription or which herbs you take. There may be no problem, but I am not a physician so am not qualified to advise you.
