Alkaline Urine?

Hi all,

I wanted to see if anyone has alkaline urine? I have a very high urine PH like 8.5, all the time, first thing in the morning as well. I noticed on my medical records when I went into remission for 2 years after a hydrodistension, my urine PH was more normal between 6.5-7.5, but when my IC came back my urine PH was back up to 8.5 again? I have read that when a person is very acidic their morning PH will be alkaline. They stated that the person is not getting rid of the acid waste but keeping it in their bodies. It makes sense. I did read in one of my IC books about ICers having a high alkaline PH, remember it stated from leaky cell membrane of the bladder. I have also seen alot of ICers having very acidic urine as well, so maybe it is a balance needed, not too acidic not too alkaline. Not sure but this PH thing has been driving me nuts over the years. I know for a fact that I am not alkaline (body) since my saliva PH is very acidic which is suppose to be alkaline in the morning. All I know is this is soooo confusing as is everything that goes along with this disease.

How do you test for acidity/alkalinity?

What I do is use a PH kit that I bought from the pet store. You can find it in the fish section. It costs about $5 and lasted a long time. You can buy PH paper but it is kind of expensive. I like the drops cause you can test everything. I made my family test their first morning saliva PH and everyone was alkaline except for me. I was acidic. I also test my urine PH as well. Mine is always alkaline. Per my extensive PH research to try to fix my problem, I have read that your first morining saliva PH should show green or blue, which is more on the alkaline side, if it is acidic (yellow or orange) then you are acidic. I have tried minerals and such w/o much success in changing my saliva PH. I always feel better when my PH is more acidic. I think because I am excreting acids instead of holding on to them in my body. So, when I am feeling better, I like to test my urine and when I am feeling real lousy I like to see to compare. I also find now, that right before my period I feel the best. My urine PH is also lower I find right before my periods, but then I get my periods and I have always had such horrible cramps that I feel aweful for the rest of the time and then right after my period ends I feel even worse. Go figure?

So if i.c people have high acid, does anyone know the answer how to control it?
