View Full Version : Kidney Pain for Second Time Since IC Diagnosis

Ugh... I woke up this morning with my usual bladder pain, but I also have kidney pain as well. It's like a dull, annoying ache just where my kidneys would be. I just had a urinalysis 2 days ago, and everything was totally normal, including normal white cell count, normal protein levels, and not even microscopic blood in the urine for once! :woohoo:

I highly doubt I suddenly have a kidney infection 2 days later when there were absolutely no signs of anything wrong, especially since I'm not running a fever either -- I guess this could be a symptom of an impending flare??? I had this once before since diagnosis -- and once when I really did have a kidney infection, which was 12 years ago now, but that time I had a fever, vomiting, more intense pain, etc and I have none of that right now.

I've been doing a LOT of bending and lifting, as we are packing up to move and also painting places in our current house to make it look nicer for potential buyers. I also drank one glass of white wine with Prelief last night with dinner, which is normally okay for me -- but I'm thinking everything combined (stress over moving, all the lifting/bending/reaching, allergies from all the dust we're stirring up, paint fumes, and the little "cheat" on my diet) to produce this?

Gonna go take a pain pill and then lie with the heating pad for a bit to see if that helps... but if it gets worse I'm calling my my uro.

I know this has been asked before, but do a lot of you get kidney pain sometimes?

It sounds like you may have strained your back. You are wise to plan to see your doctor if it isn't better very soon.

Sending gentle hugs,
Donna

Jen... :kissing:

I agree with Donna...it does sound like you have back strain. I get that alot. What I do is alternate between cold and heat. I use a cold pack for no more than 20 minutes, then use a heating pad for no more than 20 minutes. I then give it a rest for 20 minutes. Then I go back to the cold pack, etc. I alternate these about 3 times.

If you do not get any relief and the symptoms continue, do call the doctor. It couldn't hurt to get this checked out. What's one more doctor visit? ;)

Jen,
I get high flank pain during flares. Feels like a monster is roaming my bladder and back.

Hugs,
Barb :grouphug:

Hopefully you've just strained your back and it's nothing specific to your kidneys. Sometimes it's hard to tell when you have discomfort in that area. Some mornings I wake up with a dull ache in my kidney area but I think it only happens when I sleep on my back for too long. It goes away once I've been up and around for a while.
