I'm looking to communicate with others who suffer from these problems!! Lately the IBS has been the worst condition to manage. Mainly during my cycle (period).

I actually have been taking Zelnorm and it has made things much more managable...Before I started it my constipation was so bad that I was using a fleets enema at least once a week and it did make my IC ten times worse!!! I started seeing a GI guy and he put me on it...
Hope you find some relief...

My gasterenterologist said I'm not that bad to take Zelnorm, could've choked him when he said that too:)

Jen I suffer from the same thing and it can really be hard to deal with. I also get constipated then the opposite. I have tried zelnorm and at first I noticed a change but as time went on it stopped working for me. I talked to my pharmacist and he said this could happen. I am going to ask my doctor again what I can take when I see him. I am going to read the other posts because I think I can learn more about IBS. :) Thanks

I've built up a tolerance to many medications, very frustrating!!! I wish both of us luck in coping with these conditions:)

My IC is pretty bad, but I manage it through diet. Sadly that same diet makes my IBS-C worse, and I haven't found treatments that work for me yet that don't bother my IC also. I haven't tried Zelnorm. I tell you what, my IBS causes me more concern in social settings than my IC. I'm always worried that after I eat, I'm either going to have to run to the bathroom and "blow", or I have a terrible attack of painful gas after eating, not a fun thing to have around company! Uggg, and if I haven't went for days, then I have bloat, and gas to deal with, I actually have to keep clothes around in larger sizes to deal with my expanded stomach on really bad days.
If you want someone to moan to about IBS-C, I'm your person! I can't help you, but I certainly understand what your going through. I've lived with it for 20 years!

Jen I just got back from emergency. I was in hospital for about 3 days because of my kidney. No oral medication was doing it so I begain to have blood and pus in my urine and I knew that was not okay.
This has been going on for the past six weeks and after a ultrasound and C.T scan they found nothing I kept telling them it was my kidney, one doctor said it may be a sore muscle. :bonk: So 7 days latter after my kidney blew up with infection they could not send me away and say it was nothing. Like you I am resistent to a lot of antibiotics and they had to put me on Gentimycin. I go two times a day now for the next 3 days to get my antibiotic on a drip. What a zoo!!! :loco:
My irratable bowel acted up when they gave me medications, but I really had no other choice at that time. My stomach blew up like a balloon and I had nothing to eat which was pretty much out of my control. I do have a family doctor he believed me and was supportive. He told me to stay in hospital for at least 3 to 4 days. When they tried to get me to leave earlier I just said talk to my doctor he told me to stay. I am doing good now and feel so much better. :woohoo:
