Okay, I went to see the new Urologist yesterday and she thinks I might have something more serious than IC. I have a large white blood cell count in my urine which my PCP said wasn't anything to worry about but my Urologist thinks it's very important. I have a CT of my kidneys scheduled on the 25th with an immediate cystoscopy scheduled afterwards. So, I go in to get the CT and then go directly upstairs to get the cystoscopy while I’m awake. Okay, I have had a surgery where I got to watch my stomach get cut open and the doctor remove things from my body and I still think that this is going to be worse. I can cry just thinking about it. From everything that I have read around here, I’m definitely going to be soooooooooooo nervous! I’m scared.

The worst part of these procedures is what you are going through right now.
I have had many cysto's while awake. They are not bad at all. Try to stay calm. It will help. Can you ask your doctor if you can take a valium the morning of the procedures? It might help keep you calm.
Don't let them (doctors) get you crazy about what it might be. I have had so many "false alarms". I am trying to learn not to worry until there is something to worry about.

Please try not to worry, although I know it's difficult. I know how scary it is not knowing what's going on with your body. After numerous visits to all kinds of specialists, I finally ended up at the urologist (a very reputable and well respected one at that) who told me he suspected I had MS and ordered a MRI of my brain and spine (I had some tingling on my left side which I now attribute to nerves)! I was in shock when I left his office. Long story short, I don't have MS, but I still haven't been diagnosed with IC following my uro-dyrnamice, cyto/hydro test either. Not knowing is worse..I'll know more next week.
So hang tough and remember, Drs. do NOT know everything. I've found that a lot of them throw a hunch or diagnosis out there not realizing they're scaring the pants off of their patients. Have faith that you'll be fine.
Best wishes,
Lisa
