There is a new support group being formed in St. Louis: it's a IC Support Group that has its first meeting Thursday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m. at Barnes West County Hospital, Division of Urologic Surgery, 1040 North Mason Rd, Ste. 122, Physician Building #1. Guest speaker is Dr. Carl Klutke, topic is "Understanding Interstitial Cystitis."
Contact Kathy Lobello, ANP, Urology Nurse Practitioner, 314/996-8063 if interested. 6:30 p.m. is refreshment; 7:00 p.m. is the actual meeting.
Sounds promising!

Why don't you call them? The next dates are July 21, Sept 15, and Nov 17 in the Barnes West Hospital private dining room. Maybe you can make those dates?

:help: Hello. I'm from the St. Louis area also. My urologist for several years was Dr. Bela Denes. He was a great doctor, very knowledgeable about IC, and very content to work with me on what worked best for my particular case of IC. He retired a few years ago and I have yet to find a common sense urologist that doesn't just want to milk me for a bunch of money doing tests that I've already had. I have been diagnosed with IC for I guess about 10 years now. Anyone know of a good uro (or for that matter a gynocologist) who is knowledgeable about IC in the St. Loiuis area. A pleasant personality is a plus as well. :) Any help would be so very appreciated!
TNT, I will private message you a list.
Take care, Gail :cat:

I live in southern IL but will travel at any length if i need to in order to find a pain management dr that believes in giving pain medication. Right now i had been seeing Dr Brookoff in Memphis (told you i would travel!) but he is currently not available but he is hoping to be in a clinic in a couple of months.
I am just checking out my options just in case he isn't going to be available that soon. I have been doing better since i had been seeing him and able to be on pain meds. I have been to drs in St Louis many yrs ago but they did not know much about IC or at least the ones i went to didn't. They also did not believe in pain meds but had me go through biofeedback and things like that. So if anyone know of any pain management physician that
believes in giving pain meds for IC could you let me know who they are ? I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks,
Jwal

If anyone in the greater St. Louis area wants to try a therapy that has been working for me for a while, please send me a private email. I'm in the West County area, but will drive around St. Louis to see if this works on other people.
