:help: I have had a burning sensation for a few days now. It started the day after intercourse. Could it be a UTI? I thought it was a yeast infection so I bought a kit from the store. It didn't help. Any suggestions? :help:

Sheri,
You can buy one of those UTI test kits from your pharmacy and it will give you an idea if you have a UTI. A lot of people find that they flare up after sex and it might just be a flare and not a UTI but it would be best to check to make sure before it gets too out of control.

Hi I also agree with Janie. Alot of times intercourse will send some people into a flare :toilet: . You might want to buy one of the over the counter UTI kits just to make sure, but I bet its prob. more likely a flare. I hope it gets better soon....

If it is a flare up what can I do? I am not in pain. It is a burning sensation down there. I have been putting powder down there but it doesnt seem to take that feeling away. Any suggestions? It isn't like I need a heating pad because I already feel the heat if u know what I mean.

cornsilk tablets are good for burning, drink lots of water, AZO urinary track relief, antacids.
http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7562 It kind of depends on the cause of your burning as to what will help. It is usually acid but it may be pfd....if that is the case try laternating heat and cold and use moisture at your bladder....Something like rubbing a Lavender lotion on your bladder and pelvis may help too. Good luck! :grouphug:

I get a "burning" sensation just about everytime I have intercourse. It only lasts an hour or two, but if it lasts longer...usually AZO urinary track relief and cold compresses help me. Good Luck!

Sheri, I slept and or sat on an ice pack for three days before I could get into the doctor for the Yeast Infection diagnosis. I am on the two pill pack. Take on pill, wait three days and take the other. I have heard the over-the-counter creams are horrible for IC. I feel for you, feels like you are sitting on hot coals. Wishing you well.

My Dr. gave me Clobetasol cream for burning in the vagina...I use it after sex as a matter of routine. I have been able to have painless sex with my husband since March of this year.

I have read some people talking about Vestibulitis? Could this be that? Does it act like a yeast infection? Anyone know?
Yes it could definitely be Vulvodynia. i was diagnosed last year with V and always have burning and itching after intercourse.

Ice is a good home remedy for me for short lived flares that occur the morning after. I just put an pack between my legs. It helped me this past Sunday morning after I had intercourse Saturday night.

i burn after sex and i thought it was a yeast inf. or something. nope just my vv! :bonk:
so when i have sex i use desert harvest aloe vera lube. its great and gentle. plus no more buring after wards.
if you still do, take an anti-inflam. before and put ice on it. also u might want to put an anti-histamine lotion on it and a lil inside.
oh and i always take 1 antibiotic pill before, and diflucan a few days later just in case. small doses of coarse and doctor approved. ALWAYS TALK TO YOUR DOC FIRST!:cat:
