can a tens unit help with horrible bladder pain or just with urgency and frequency??? Also what exactly is it---my doc suggested it because all the medications for IC either do not help me or I am allergic to:(:(:(

Yes, the tens helps me a lot with the horrible pain. Without it I could not stand up anymore. It looks like a pager and you clip it to your pants. Has a lead wire that attaches to the electrodes that you put over your bladder area. I would give it a try since your doctor wants you too. I told my Uro about it and he said give it a try. Glad I did. I wear mine 24/7 for 6 years now. I can't take pain pills either and most of the IC pills I couldn't stand due to the side effects.
