View Full Version : Gave up junk food...
Okay, what gives?
I quit eating sugary foods & junk food a week ago. I reduced my calories to 1500 a day, increased my water intake, & went to the gym 4 times.
So, I haven't lost even one pound & my face has broken out with acne like crazy. What gives? I thought doing healthy things would be good for me, but I'm a little discouraged at this not-so-great start.
Any advice or encouragement?
Thanks!
Kadi

Hi Kadi,
Could you be having an allergic reaction to something new you are eating that might make your face break out? Also I used to break out when I worked out a lot - from heat and sweating or from washing my face more because I was sweating, I think.
Anyway, congratulatins on starting your program I'm sure you will feel better in the long run as long as your bladder is up to it.

It could very easily be the exercise that's slowing weight loss. My doctor said that exercise helps build muscle tissue instead of fat --- and muscle tissue weighs more. You should level off soon. In the meantime, I suggest you take some body measurements and go by that instead of the scales.

Sometimes changing your diet quickly and adding exersice can cause you system to be off balance. You need to allow your body time to balance out. Right now you are sweating out any toxins that have built up. Give it some time and I bet you'll see an improvement. Good luck!

Just keep doing what you're doing. Eating right and exercising are NOT bad for you.

I haven't changed my diet but about a month ago had increased my exercise level. I, too, noticed a dramatic increase in acne. I figured it had to do with the increase in sweating. I haven't found a solution for it yet.

I've had an increase in acne, my doctor thinks it perimenopause. I guess that's the time when it returns...when your hormones are in flux again. :(

Kadi-
Great job for getting on a program. Give it some time...it doens't all just drop off right away. It is 20x easier to pack the weight on then take it off. Don't get discouraged.
As for the acne, I would make sure to remove make up before hitting the gym and give your body some time to adjust. HOpefully it will even out soon.
Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
