Hi everyone I just wanted to say Thank you for talking with my husband. He really is a sweet person who is really just as scared has I am about the two different op. from tjhe doctor. I guess what my husband was trying to say about my burning sensation in my stomach was, that it's not that he don't believe me, but until the doctor told me that I should be having pain in my pelvic region, which I told him I am not, the burning started the day after I saw that doctor. I have never had this burning sensation before. So what he was saying was why did I not deel it before I went to the doctor but now I am feeling it.

I guess he is asking that because I keep worrying that I gave the doc. the wrong info. Because I never really did notice any symptoms in my pelvic area until after the doc. appointment. Now I have that burning sensation on and off. And the not having pelvic pain is one of the pain reasons why he said I didn't have IC. Do you understand what I am trying to say.

And I don't know why but he doesn't believe in the potasuim test. He told me that if I had a infection in my ureatha that would also make pot. test hurt. I am just confused, depressed and scared. Maybe I wll question the hydro test. Both doctors said my capacity was excellent and that my scope looked great that is why they did not do the hydro.

Thank you again for helping my husband understand.

Hi Noelle, I am so happy you have a husband that is trying to help and understand your condition. It is very important to have the support system at home. I know first hand as I am sure others have to what it is like to have one that does not, my ex, and my husband now is the BEST..This disease is complicated and hard to understand from a patients persp. and from a dr. I believe that if you had a postive reaction to the potassium test you could have IC. You dont neccessarily have to have the pelvic pain. Everyones pain can differ. Also an in office cysto will not show IC. This must be done under anthesia. And you can have a larger bladder capacity and still have IC. When my IC first started I did not have the pain alot either. My problems were with freq and urgency. I feel that you know your body and you know what is normal and not normal. You have to trust your feelings and if your feeling is telling you that this is not normal than find a dr who will listen to you. It is not un-normal for an IC patient to spend yrs and countless dr's trying to find out what is wrong with you. I saw 5 uro's, 1 gyn and 1 general md before getting my diagnose's. Only my gyno listen to me. He asked specially and sent a note to a uro to have me tested for this disease. Uro refuse to test me told me I was to young and if I did I would regret it b/c there was nothing that could be done. It was another 2 1/2 yrs before I had my potassium test and my offical diagnoses. By this time I had spent over 5 yrs tyring to find out what was wrong with me. And I feel and so did the dr b/c I had gone so long without knowing and not starting any meds this is why mine became as bad as it has. Most meds and treatments dont work on me. I have an interstim as a last resort.

My point only you know your body and can decide if you think what is happing is normal. Things are not in your head and the pain can come and go, it does not have to be constent. You do not have to have a small bladder capacity to have IC it can also be large. And you DO NOT have to have pelvic pain to have IC either. As far as the potassium test showing a false postive because of a infected uretha. I do not understand this. Being that it is put directly into the bladder, I just dont know. Although I hope and pray that what you have is a infected ureatha and not IC, I think maybe a 3rd opion is what is needed. I will keep you in my prayers.
