Hi All,

I have not been on here for a while due to being at uni and not having very easy internet access when at uni.

I have not been obviously diagnosed with IC but my GP is pretty sure I have it and my Gynea thinks I have it too.

I feel that I should push for a proper diagnosis as surely if it is just being left then the IC is not going to be under control?

I suffer from Endometriosis too and had a laparoscopy last thursday to remove a large cyst from my left ovary, a few little cysts on my right ovary were popped and I had some organs stuck down by adhesions.
The last few days my bladder has been driving me nuts. I feel like I constantly need to pee and after going within 10mins I feel like I have a full bladder again. I am in alot of pain anyway from the surgery and have very bruised tummy but I have got more pain down in the pubic area again and when I wee it hurts. I do not know if it is just my bladder flaring up though or if I have a uti brewing up?!
I know I should go to my drs and get my urine tested but it just feels like one thing after another at the moment and I am really hoping that it is just my bladder flaring and that it will settle again.
I also feel when I go to the toilet like I am not emptying my bladder fully either aswell, its really strange. Last night I had an awful night because I had to keep getting up to wee and more of less as soon as I had been and got back into bed I felt like I needed to wee again. This is hard to because I am feeling so sore from the op and so getting up and down is driving my nuts.

Today I have felt worse but not sure if it is just an extra bad day or if it is because I am over tired as slept so badly last night or if I have a uti, hurting alot and in alot of pain but its hard to know what is what really.

I suffer from alot of pain in my lower pelvis, pubic area & vagina and at one of my appointments recently with my Gynea he said he thought the IC was causing alot of the vagina/low down pain.
I feel that I should push to get a proper diagnosis but then on the other hand I have been through so much poking and prodding I am not sure if I can face anymore investigations. But saying that if we knew I definately had IC maybe we could get it more under control because at the moment if I do have IC which seems pretty certain although I know there is no cure for the IC as I have not been diagnosed I am on no treatment and maybe some treatment would improve the pain and symptoms for me?
I constantly have bladder probs but it flares (like now), I have to wee lots, it is very painful when bladder is getting full/is full and so when I have to wee I have to as it gets so painful, it hurts after weeing, it can burn, I have alot of pain in pubic area/vagina, often have blood and protein in my urine.
Although I do not want more poking and prodding I am concerned that the IC is contributing to alot of the pain I am in and my bladder certainly is not right so should I push for something to be done but I do not know what to push for? Sorry I am not sure if this is making sense!?

I had a cystoscopy about 3/4 years ago and biopsies of the bladder showed inflamation. The cystoscopy was done by a urologist and I never had any follow up.

I am sorry this message is so long and apologies if it doesnt make sense!

Thankyou in advance for your help and support.

Take care & best wishes, Jacqui xxx

I do think you should push for a definitive diagnosis! Have you tried the IC diet? If it helps it is a good sign you have IC!

http://www.sworcare.com/IC%20survey.htm PUF test this survey can help you determine if IC is likely. You may an infection...and it is a good idea to get tested to be sure. Have you tried a home test? www.icnshop.com

Jacqui-
First and foremost drop off some urine and get yourself tested...leaving an untreated UTI is only going to cause big old problems. Then, push for a diagnosis...have you seen a urologist? i would recommend that. I hope you feel better soon-

I have not been officially diagnosed either however I truly believe that we know our bodies better than anyone. I have the same discomfort in the vagina, feeling that you have to pee right after you go, blood and protein in EVERY urine sample. I am really not interested in getting a cysto for my own crazy reasons. I am still debating on weather to fill a prescription my doc gave me for Elmiron. It can be very frustrating

Good Luck

I think you've gotten some great advice -- first, push for a formal diagnosis, so you can begin the proper treatment, and, in the meantime, DO get tested for a UTI. If you have one, antibiotics can help, and if you leave it untreated it can spread to your kidneys and get very serious.

Definately get your urine checked! That is an easy way to find out if you have an infection. It can lead to serious problems if left untreated....
I agree with everyone that you need to get a definate diagnosis. I know it can be frustrating, but with the correct diagnosis and knowledgable doctor, you will feel better!

I totally agree --- it sounds like you may have an infection. Please contact your doctor.
