:help:

I have had IC for 26 years.. The last 2 years I have had so much pain where before the pain was managable with meds..Now Im on oxycontin for pain and that helps..but doesn't help when I have sex. Sex is about non existant. My husband understands as he knows how much pain I'm in and howm much pain I have with sex. I have tried all kinds of super lubes and such. The last few months I have tried to bite the bullet and have sex. I have got syringes and filled them with the moisturizes and put them up me to help and then he uses stuff on him, and we constantly re apply...It still hurts and is hard to relax but I do it for my husband. My question is, I have been reading about all the instillations people use with Marcaine or Lido and was wondering if anyone has put an instilation of this prior to sex to numb the bladder?? It seems to me that it would be wonderful if it could be numb for sex!!!!!!!!
I've never done any instils before but for this I surely would do it!!!
Any input would be great.
thanks

I have tried this and it can help. I would recommend doing the instill, holding it for 15-30 minutes, urinating, and then having sex.

I also recommend relaxing the pelvic floor muscles by taking a warm bath (maybe even taking the bath together ;) ) or using a heating pad of some sort. This allows your pelvis to open up more and in that state, it's better able to handle penetration. You can also take a Pyridium or something like it beforehand if burning after sex is a problem for you. Muscle relaxants, if they are prescribed for you, can also help the pelvic floor issue.

I haven't done that (but I might) but I have used a a presciption of lidocaine gel for my vagina and pelvic musscles....it has helped so much (yes it made things different for hubby) but it helped a lot. I think the instill of lidoaine in the bladder may be a good idea...I may try it (since i have lidocaine to instill for flares).
