I just had my first Hydro/cysto and barely remember my conversation with my uro after i woke up- but he did leave me with a pamplet for Pelvic Floor Disorder/ Dysfunction?
Is this common with IC? He said something about going to a neuro specialist. I am so frustrated that I was so out of it and could not ask appropriate questions. I will at my follow up but would like some feeback from you guys.
Thanks so much.
Lisa
Yes, PFD is common with IC.
When is your follow up appointment?
Wishing you better days soon!

Not sure. I was pretty out of it when he spoke to me, and I just had the procedure on Friday. I plan on calling the office on Monday to get back in there and find out what the deal is.
I have been doing some reading on the site about PFD. This is all so crazy to me but it really makes sense. I have had so many surgeries on my abdominal area...abdominal C Section, Abdominal Partial Hysterectomy, Laporoscopy, Appendectomy, Full Hysterectomy, Lymph Node disection...... all that I am now reading can cause problems with pelvic muscles. WOW.

Yes, your surgeries can certainly cause PFD. Often, it goes along with IC as well. Some of us tend to tighten our pelvic muscles to "guard" against pain, and this becomes a vicious cycle, where the tight muscles cause pain, and that makes them squeeze harder, etc.
I have it and have been through physical therapy for it, which is/was quite helpful. I learned many stretches and biofeedback techniques for relaxing the pelvic floor and relieving some of the pain.
