We live on six acres and have ten sheep, counting four lambs born early this year. Yesterday, when we did our count, one was missing so we went searching --- found a brand new lamb. We thought we weren't going to have any more this year and the early ones have already turned into dull grazers. Now we have a new one to watch --- they play so cute when they are tiny. Our sheep aren't really pets, but they do eat bread out of our hands.

Spring lambs...how absolutely wonderful!
Since you and your husband raise sheep, I have to share a story with you. Our grown daughter has always loved sheep. When she was growing up and people asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would tell them her desires and then add---or, if that doesn't work out, I want to move to Scotland and become a shepherd. Not too many children want to become shepherds these days! Well, her career did work out so she isn't a shepherd---not yet, anyway. She lives out-of-state but soon has to attend a conference not far from us. After the conference, she will be coming home to visit for a couple of days. She is going to go back to her home a day earlier than necessary, however, so she can attend her state's sheep and wool festival. :)

Ooohhhhh! We just had six baby goats... two sets of triplets. I was able to help in the birth of the last three, wiping off the placenta and helping cut the cords. 5 boys, 1 girl! I wish they could always stay babies. They are sooo cute and very good for the soul!

Oh how GREAT, Donna!!! I love animals, all of them... especially the babies!!!
We have a pair of robins nesting on the backyard floodlight right now. They have been there for a bit, and now they have just one baby -- I was a bit sad to see the brood size was down from last year when the same thing happened on the floodlight (I cannot help thinking that Memphis pollution is somehow to blame for the diminishing brood sizes of many animals). However, it is so great to see the baby... he/she is so cute, just beginning to peek out of the nest, with that baby down feather coat they have. His parents, both male and female, are caring for him -- the mom still sits on him sometimes as if he's an egg, and you can hear him complain about it sometimes now :lmao: LOL... and the dad is hilarious. You can tell the mom tells the dad to watch the baby for a bit while she gets a bite to eat, and so he stands there on the edge of the nest looking sort of confused, but occasionally grooming the baby and clearing the nest of waste.... typical man :)

Congrats on your new baby lamb! How exciting! My mother in law would be jealous! She wants sheep soo badly. She has 2 border collies that she takes to herding competitions & works them at a friend's house who has sheep. But, she wants some of her own & hubby won't let her have any.

Actually I like goats better, but husband Terry says we can't have them because they find ways to get out of their pens and they would ruin our trees and shrubs.
So --- sheep it is. Yesterday I stood out in the rain watching that little lamb playing and running and jumping --- very cute.
