Here's a true story. Feel free to laugh at me...we did.

While in California this past week, my husband and I spent a couple of days visiting the area in the Central Valley where we met and lived for the first 8 years of our marriage before moving to Tennessee.

While on Hwy. 99 heading North toward Modesto on our way to San Francisco, I began experiencing something that I had only read about on these boards. I began to feel like I was on fire "down south".

I rode along for awhile without saying anything to my husband while the fire grew in intensity as the miles ticked off. I started squirming around in the car trying to get comfortable. Nothing helped...there was no getting comfortable, in any position. Things were way too hot.

When we finally passed a sign reading "Rest Area 2 miles", I thought I would jump for joy. I told my husband that I NEEDED to stop. As always, he said, "No problem" and headed into the Rest Area. I was able to pee...alot, but that did not help with the burning sensation.

That was when I remembered  a post from someone who, finding herself in exactly the same situation as I was in, used a bottle of cold water between her legs to cool things down. I told my husband that I needed to buy a cold can of soda from one of the machines, not to drink, but to put between my legs. The look on his face was priceless. I then explained that I had never before felt this particular symptom but, while in the bathroom, remembered that post and thought that the cold can might help. We both started to laugh and, of course, the jokes began about being on fire between the legs, but not a good kind of fire. ;)

As soon as I got back into the car, the cold can was put in position and...IT WORKED!!!!! Ahh...what a relief. :woohoo:

So...to whomever it was who posted this terrific "hint"...I say a very hardy and greatful...THANK YOU. :kissing: :lmao:

Kind of reminds me of a commercial: "pop, pop, fizz, fizz --- oh what a relief it is."

Glad it worked for you.

That is something I need try sometime when I am stuck in traffic. I often use an ice bag at home between my legs and over my bladder. Thanx for sharing.

What's that 70's song that says "She's got the fire down below"? That just popped into my head. I'm glad you had a great trip & were quick to think about the cold can of pop.

I have that burning sensation almost all the time. I use an ice pack between my legs alot! I never thought of using a cold drink--if I'm ever in a situation where I don't have my ice pack (or there is no ice available!) I'll remember this! :)

Yep, I keep a few bottles of water in the freezer for "road trips" since I discovered that it helped me! The first time I tried it, I too was on the road, and uncomfortable so I had sweetie stop at a gas station and buy me bottle of water, and worked like a charm! When that one got warm, we stopped again...etc. LOL! Now, I am prepared!! LMAO!!!

Hugs,
Tracey :)
