Well, after being on 2 capsules a day now (1000mg), for about a month, I must say I will keep taking it! It has given me significant relief for my dry mouth (and um, "other areas", lol), not "cured" but enough of a break to where it's very noticeable! I am really happy with it, and about a week or so ago I upped it to 3 a day, to see if that will make any difference...
Hugs,
Tracey :)

Thanks for the info....did you notice any other changes or improvements?
Happy it helped you!
Yes! I totally agree with you. I also have IBS as well as IC and it has really helped with constipation as well. I think of it as a body "lube job"!

I have to say that the other benefit I have really noticed is in the constipation department also! Now granted I just had a bout with it last week -- had to resort to Milk of Yuck, and now have had some troubles at the other end of that spectrum, lol. But, I am due to be starting my period any day now, and that stuff always seems to act up right around now in my cycle, if it's going to act up at all.
But for the most part, the dry mouth, eyes, sinuses and "other areas" ;) have been really improved, and liveable. And the constipation has not really been a problem, I was thinking the same thing Jenny was -- keeps things moving along with extra lubrication -- comfortably!!! LOL

Tracey :)

ok, this is something I have to look into.
Tracey...
Are they a tablet, liquid gel type ?

Hey Jen, they are a liquid gel type capsule, huge but, since they have really made a difference to me, I choke them down, lol. They aren't the "optimum" kind, Windwalker told me the best is the kind you have to keep refrigerated, and that is what I have read too, but I have no where to buy them, so I get what I can! LOL I think now the kind I have are 1200mg. But my first bottle was 1000mgs. I started taking them the weekend that Cali got sick, so that would be aroung the 6th of March. And flax seed oil is supposed to help with inflammation too. So, the more benefits the better! LOL

Hi Tracey,
I too have the dry eye / dry mouth syndrome. I've been diagnoised with Sjogren's Syndrome which is associated with IC. I am now taking Restasis which has help me out tremendously. I highly recommend Restasis.
I too thought about taking Flax Seed Oil but read that it can cause a flare so I didn't take it. I'm glad it has helped you out.
Take Care and Hope You Continue to Improve!

Can Restasis be used if you wear contact lenses?? I have been a bit curious about this!

How expensive are the pills. I have been taking Glycolax. I see where there are more problems from IC from reading some of the information above. Gee we are a walking med factory. I had no idea that all of this occurred with IC or have they really related the symptoms to IC?

My flaxseed caps aren't too bad, I think the last bottle I bought was like 10 bucks for 100 or something like that. I am not sure which causes all the dryness for me, but I have a feeling it's the meds - the ditropan and elmiron, and probably the antihistamine too, lol! Ack, I know what you mean, I feel like a walking pharmacy some days!

I'm not sure but you can call the manufacturer at (714)246-4500 or speak with your ophthalmologist/optometric physician.
It has made a drastic change in my life!

Thanks for the info!! I know it seems that I notice dry eyes even more so since I do wear contacts! I go soon for my yearly eye exam -- think I will ask my doc about it!

I've been taking Flaxseed Oil capsules too. And, um, I did notice the extra lube effect, at least so far as my IBS-D goes. Hopefully that "benefit" will settle down some soon!

If your doc tells you that you have dry eyes, I recommend that you try temporary plugs which will desolve in 6 to 7 days before allowing your doc to put permanent plugs into your tear ducts. This way you can determine if you can tolerate the plugs. This procedure is extremely common and I know several people that have plugs in the tear ducts.
So many people think that the tear ducts are what actually make the tears. Your tear glands inside your eye lids are what make tears. The tear ducts drain excessive tears from your eyes. My doc gave me a good example..... Imagine your tear glands as a faucet and the duct is the drain.
Good Luck!

I have been taking flaxseed oil for a month now since reading about it here, and I have to say it is making a significant difference for my dry eyes. My contacts no longer feel like corn flakes that are constantly dry, blurry, and about to fall out! Thanks for the tip. Can't say it has helped with constipation in my case (I have the IBS-C variety) but being able to see with my contacts is a real plus.

:) Glad that it is working for you. If I need it, I can at least give it a try.
Thanks again.
For the dry eyes, I use eye drops for mine.
