Anyone have degenerative disc disease? I was told that I had this. I also have an herniated disc. Somehow I think it is all related.

I would think a connection should be quite likely. I can immagine that this is a huge problem. I will pray for you. I hope you get the help you need with this.

Have you had an MRI and have they said which disc is herniated - meaning, what level? If it is a lumbar disc it would certainly be worth mentioning to your doc. There are nerves there that do run to the bladder. It could be affecting your bladder and it could not --- but I sure would investigate if I were you. :)

Thans everyone for the reply. My disc is at the L5 level. I asked my neurologyst about it the other day, and he said most of the nerves that affect the bladder are in the S1-S2 level. I just don't believe that. I am going to do some research on it. I have two weeks before I have to decide to have surgery. Thanks for all the prayers. I need it!
Here is something I found in a guest lecture:
<drstoller2> Studies have shown that the S3 region of the spinal cord plays a key role in the neurologic control of bladder function
If you go to this link:

It shows a really good diagram of the spinal column and the nerves out to the bladder. But that L5 is right on the border of S1.... Looks like S1, S2 and S3 all have nerves going to the bladder.

Yeah but guys IC is where the bladder linning tears and then acid get to the nerves so I'm having a hard time with the disc causing the problem to the bladder. I think its the other way around where the acids causing pain on the ends of the bladder nerves and shooting that pain to the spinal cord in turn causing the pain in your back. So brings us back to why are our linning so weak compared to other ppls? I don't think any other disease causes IC I believe IC causes the other diseases because of the nerves which go back to your spinal cord and in turn travel to the rest of your body. Like my RLS which is a neurological disorder is it the IC causing it? I think so because the nerves are exposed to toxic waste from the urine. Just a thought!!

Hi: I need some help!...I'm having extreme back pain (started in the low back and has now moved all over).....I can't take Ibupropren because it causes an IC flare so I'm having to suffer without medication. Does anyone know of an anti-inflammatory medication that is IC friendly?....I have done the chiropractor, the MRI's & various back X-rays and am currently having physical therapy..it helps a little but not enough.
I'm hoping someone can help me. Thanks Linda P.
