I was just recently diagnosed with IC and I'm still working on trial and error.
The downside here, is that my pain is pretty steady and I'm not well enough to take the bus to school anymore. *our family doesn't own a car* So I've missed seven months of school.
How do you guys deal with it?

Are we talking high school, college--if it is high school, alot of districts had homebound teachers that came to the home with the lessons. College--if that is the case, I would think there would be a way to work some thng out.

If you're talking about high school, you should be able to have home tutoring to help you keep up.

I am sorry you have missed so much school.I didn't have my problem when I was in high school. The whole bus thing, I don't know if I can handle pumpy roads. Buses are not very smooth. Where are you from? I hope something will come up for you, to help you go to school. I'm in college know, and I remember the whole no car and the missing school. I wish you the best of luck. I hope you feel better soon.

I was not diagnosed with IC until I was in college, but I believe I've had it since I was 13. However, I started to have a lot of pain my senior year of high school. I think I missed almost 40 days of school or more. I made it through some how. If you have missed 7 mo. of school I would look into either being homeschooled or doing school by homebound. I'm pretty sure you aren't in college since you take the bus, but if you are in college you can always take online courses. Most colleges offer online. Also, I live in FL and we have a online high school and you can take almost all your classes there. You might check with your school board about that. Good luck! Chelsey

I kind of know what you mean... I've missed about 25 days of school this year! Actually, I'm at home today as well.
In your case, I would suggest looking into getting a home-tutor or being homeschooled. I hope you can work this out, somehow!

Thank you for all the support!
Right now I am in High School, my junior year to be exact. I live in Texas.
I'm planning on checking out homebound or even homeschooling.
There's a school in Houston that will help me catch up with what I've missed and I've applied there.
Thanks again, everyone. You really did help me. :kissing:
If you're in a public school, the district should provide this for you. Have your doctor write a letter to your school & take it in. The school system I work for has an office that coordinates these services throughout the district.
Good luck!

I know our area offers online High School courses as well. If you are self motivated, you may want to check it out. I LOVE your name, by the way :)
I can defiantly respone to this. I am in the exact situation. I have missed an entire semister, plus all the other random days I would miss.
I'm actually being homebound tutored (the teacher comes to my house and gives me what I missed and does mini lessons). But, for me, they last day of school are in 7 days! and I just recently (like, a week ago) started second semister. :headbang: :cussing:
But things do get better! I promise. ;) :woohoo:
(I'm a sophmore, I was dx. in Feb of this year)
