Mines does and therefore I require a hydro at least twice a year, for now on.
So do you have an incredible shrinking bladder too? :toilet:

Christine,
Mine does too. I went from having what I call having a nurse's bladder(basically the ability to hold it the whole shift, continue to drink fluids and wait to get home until I pee)to a day to day capacity of about 150cc. Gets smaller everytime.

I know many that do have shrunken bladders. I don't think mine has much but also have this terrible habit of holding it untill it drives me into pain quite often...so I guess I force mine to not shrink much.
I hope the hydro's work out for you!

The fear of a shrinking bladder is why I am doing bladder retraining. It sounds like you are doing it too, Katrina!

Mine does. I think that's why hydrodistention helps me so much.

Mine shrinks also. Time for another hydrodistention but my doctor basically makes fun of me each time because they cause me so much pain for a few hours after I have it done. He says he cannot believe it hurts that bad and he has patients that go right to work after having it done. I doubt that. How can you work after all that anesthesia. Well maybe he needs to have it done and then make fun of me. I live in a very rural area so changing doctors is not an option.

Mine definitely shrinks, I was last told 3 years ago that I could only hold a little under 200ccs now it's even less I'm sure. I probably could go for a hydro but since being really sick 3 years ago I haven't really felt the same and I'm terrified of being put under again.

To those who replied that they hold their pee in to stop their bladder from skrinking, how DO you do that?! My uro told me to try this after my second hydro in October and I just can't do it, it hurts way too much and ends up causing a flare from the pressure

Is your uro insane?! It isn't a good idea to do anything like work after ANY surgery, especially if it involved local anesthesia. Only a workoholic could go to work after such a thing :loco:

It hurts to hold the urine in. But...I know that I am doing a good thing for my bladder. I am very young and have a lot of life before me, and I don't want my bladder to shrink. So I just hold it as much as I can. Sometimes that is only 20 min...sometimes 3 1/2 hours (my record). Sometimes, if I have a lot of other stuff going on, the pain diminishes to where I can not notice it, however, if I think about it, then it gets worse again. I hope that my answer helps you!
