I got the trial interstim at 11;30 am today :woohoo: :woohoo: and my uro said it went great with no problems,it is set on 1 1/2 rate.Have an appointment tomorrow to check out every thing.I am a bit sore an having some slight pain on the left side of my vagina when walking which must be normal.Best part i don't remember a thing. Going to have bruised left hand an arm as the first IV didn't work. got to go as Iam a bit tired, (one more thing I went 2 hours without going to pee). :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: thanks everyone for all of your posts they help me make a big decision.

Saw My Uro Today An He Adjusted The Monitor As I Was Having Some Pain When Walking.the Pain Was In The Left Lablia.now No Pain!!!!!!!!!an I Have Not Went To The Bathroom For3hours I'm Grining From Ear To Ear.so If This Keeps Up I Will Get The Inplant On The 19th. I Am Just A Bit Tired As The 1 1/2hour Drive To The Uro Was A Bit Much. My Hubby Kept Saying Next Pottie Stop Coming Up An I Kept Saying Drive On. My Face Looks Like I Painted It Up As If I Over Blushed. They Said It Was From The Med That Was Used To Put Me Outan It Would Go Away Soon. It Looks Like The Interstim Will Be My New Best Friend Also.

Hi rubjen;

I also would like to wish you all the best on your InterStim Implant on April 19..
WOW, my sixth year with the InterStim Implant is on April 20 so I will not forget your date ...

I just want you to know that the results that you are getting from the trial will be way different then the Implant, remember it is implanted inside of you and the feeling of the stimulation is very different it will not feel as strong as you are feeling it now...
It also took me a good eight months with an adjustment as well to get some wonderful results so please understand you have to learn to have some patience with it now it is not in no way a over night fix ...
It will take some time for your body to accept the device as well and remember we are all so different in this procedure it may help one faster then an other one ...

So all the best and I wish you a speedy recovery please take it easy for two weeks as you will be very sore, I thought the surgery was a piece of cake myself but we are all so different in our healing as well...

Please post and let us know how you make out rebjen...

Hugs, Debbie

Hi

What is an interstim trial?

Thanks

Interstim trial, is a test with a tempory wire implanted near the sacral nerve that produces stimulation to the bladder to reduce URGENCY/FREQUENCY ONLY. If the trial is a success in 7-14 days depending on the physician the permanent implant is implanted into the hip area. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT GOING TO HELP WITH PAIN. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU IT WILL. That is not it purpose nor will it stop your pain. It is a very costly procedure that I have over $50,000. in already. Please don't investigate this device for pain. Which from reading your previous post seems to be what you are looking for the most.

the inter stim is not for pain, I cannot understand why any uro would tell you it is.I just got the inter stim an it has helped me with the frequency an urgency not with pain .I controll a lot of the pain with my diet.I DO NOT TAKE PAIN MEDS ON A REGULAR BASIS.I hope you will research the inter stim for your piece of mind. I do belive you have to do a diet to controll those trigger foods, that give you pain.I wish you lots of good luck an pain free days.

rubjen:

Hi

Thanks for the advice - see previous post please - I have just cancelled the dreaded appointment and I am getting a new urologist on May 9th

I know that is is NOT FOR PAIN. They keep telling me it is so when I cancelled the appointment with the other uro that my crappy uro sent me to I just said you must be interested in kickbacks but you are no getting it off of me. lol

I do follow the diet but still have pain. I am working with my pain mgmt doctor for 2 months now and we keep switchting things around. The pain is not excrutiating as when this first all started in November but it is there somtimes better than others

I appreciate all of your advice and concern - rubjen and stasny

I am getting prepared now to do my urine sample to send it FEDEX to United labs in Virginia for the broth culture test. I will let you know in a a week or so how it goes as that is how long they let the bacteria grow

Hugs to you both

you are sending urine through the mail I have never heard of such a thing

Portia17
04-27-2005, 04:20 AM
Guess you never heard of speciman packs a-k-a medical packs with speciman being shipped all over the states and world via fed-ex, airborne, etc.

WOW, I worked for a company and we did a lot of specimans and cultures every day and shipped all over to certain labs. One time we had a liver transported from state to state for a liver transplant via overnight service.

oh well

jrowley
04-27-2005, 04:27 AM
well transplant yeah but not urine here in michigan they usually just send it within state and within certian miles

tigger_gal
04-27-2005, 04:31 AM
Yea I have to agree with Jan .. its different flying a liver/heart via helicopter then urine.. I suppose as long as it stay's cold.... and gets there in a day it would be ok.. but I don't see how it would get and accurate result, being shipped a few states verses your doctor sending it to the local lab in your town...

Oh let me clarify

I am having a broth culture test by Dr chang who uses Dr. F tecnique of letting the bacteria grow in our urine for 5 to 7 days and if gram positive bacteria is shown then a vigorous course of antibiotics will be given. You see our doctors only let our urine stay for about 24-48 hours which will never show if we have any different kind of bacteria growing but this lab does. A lot of our doctors do not beleive in this theory called the broth theory.

there is a section on here about antibiotics used for ic patients on the boards

Portia17

It can be explained thoroughly if you go to www.google.com and put in either the name of Dr Toth or Dr. Fugazzotto

Take care

It's not unusual to send specimens through the mail --- if it's done properly, it shouldn't be a problem.

Donna

You are so right. I worked for a freight company years ago and we shipping thousands of urine and blood samples a day to various states. I shipped mine yesterday to another state.

This I know for a fact
