View Full Version : Pre-Seed
Hello,
I've had IC for years, and am just now trying to get pregnant (I'm 37) and it hasn't happened (in about 8 months). We just started using this product called Pre-Seed... has anyone here ever heard of it? Its a lubrication that is supposed to increase fertility (other lubrication products hinder fertilty). I have only used it a few times, and it may or may not be kicking off some flares for me. I'm curious if anyone else has had some experience with it.
thanks,
Barbara

Hi Barbara. I haven't heard of it. The only suggestion I would have is to watch your diet carefully and if you are still flaring, it could be from the pre-seed.
I hope you have success soon! ;)

OK I got curious and was looking.. couldn't find anything in the fda... but found several places on the net selling it.. here is one sales pitch:
PRE-SEED is the worlds only sperm friendly intimate moisturizer that mimics the normal body fluids(in pH and osmotic pressure) for optimal sperm environment. Intercourse, or artificial insemination "on demand" at time of ovulation can lead to anticipation anxiety and increased vaginal dryness. Water and other lubricants on the market will kill sperm, so be sperm friendly, and help them on their way by using Pre-seed. Each box provides six separate pre-filled applicators. Great for vaginal lubrication prior to intercourse and/or comfort with inserting speculums for AI procedures. It's the only good lubricant to use for males when forced to produce specimens by masturbation because it's good for sperm! Manufactured by INGfertility, USA
from what I am reading its only sperm friendly... I don't think that it will help you get pregnant.. if it did all of our obgys would recomend this for all couples that are having problems trying to conceve.. I couldn't find any thing in the fda, but, possible I over looked it.
I'm pretty convienced that its just another lub, like, astroglide, ky.. ect..
good luck\

I have a book that says you can also use egg whites as a sperm friendly lubricant. Maybe the egg white will be less irritating.

We decided to order some of the Pre-seed and used it two days ago. It really made me flare. Both my IC and Vulvodynia flared and I know it is from the pre-seed. Oh well, it was worth trying but now I'm going to have to trash the rest of it.

When I was married and trying to actively get pregnant (never happened, but blessing in disguise, lol :)) I too had read that egg white was a really good way to go for lube when trying to conceive, the sperm have no troubles navigating in it, since it's all protein.
Hugs,
Tracey :)
Hi all,
I had to wait a month to try the pre-seed again! :-) (its too expensive to be using on non-ovulation days!!)
I've used it twice this month, and I had no flares. So, I think that last month I must have ate something that bothered me.
For those of us trying to concieve with IC, this product may be worth a try. It isn't just a lube... its specifically made to mimic cervical fluids, which is what the sperm need to swim through. So it *can* help you get pregnant, if your problem (like I think mine is) that you don't produce enough cervical fluids and the sperm has no where to swim. Any other lube, as well as saliva, will either hinder the sperm or kill it. And since its hard for me to have sex with IC without some kind of lubricant, this product will hopefully help me get pregnant. I've also read that you can use egg whites, but I have to admit that kind of grosses me out!!
good luck,
Barbara

We use Pre-seed and/or eggwhites. I haven't had any flares or reactions from either. (just the usual pain with and after sex because of IC).
A tip about using eggwhites...
1. warm up the egg (either by allowing it to come to room temp or placing it in a bowl of warm water). Then crack and seperate.
2. we use a small plastic syringe (no needle). Like you use to give a child cough medicine. It's a good way to get the EW as close to the cervix as possible.
We often insert the eggwhites. And use pre-seed on outside and on him. With IC, you usually need lots of lube (those pre-seed applicators don't have alot and it's expensive).
KY, astroglide and other lubes are known to be hostile to sperm. So if you are TTC please consider EW or preseed.
