Hi :
Has anyone had this done? I am thinking about it..my periods are horrible, and I can't imagine dealing with this for another 15-20 years... Advice needed.

I had an endometrial ablation for dysfunctional uterine bleeding and severe anemia in Feb 2002. I am pretty sure I would do it again....to not have my periods rule my life is so wonderful....I used to have ruined vacations due to my periods.
I still have periods, though I am on the brink of menopause so they are wild in their timing, but very slight in their amount...I still have cramps, though much better and I have my worst IC pain before during and after my cycle. I had IC onset and this surgery at almost the exact same time, so I never had this as an issue before the ablation....again, I think it would be something I would choose again...it is just such an irony that as I finally chose a solution for one major issue, I was now facing another. Good luck, there is tons of info on the web. Be sure. I will include a link for the version I had.

This is the best link I could find and includes the thermachoice version I had as well as great explanation and other methods. this is not my Dr. I just can't find the link, but am pretty sure it was a Johnson & Johnson product.
Hi Betsie, was glad to read your post re endometrial ablation, I am due to have have another transvaginal ultrasound with ablation next week, as I have been having bleeding problems. Thanks for the posting the website also, very enlightening. I had a renal ultrasound with a transvaginal ultrasound a couple of week back and there evidently is a problem with my endometrium, so your post was very helpful to me, thanks and hugs Iris. :)

i had the ablation done app 2 yrs ago , it was wonderful as far as my cycle deminshing greatly , but recently the pain during my cycle time has gotten so severe im now sceduled in may for a partial hyterectomy , reason being my left ovary has blood surronding it which is causing blood leakage in the uterus wall , my gyn seems to think it cause of a uncomplete ablation...hope u the best of luck , hope this helps your decision :)
